why did people in fallout use old vaults that much? like a vault that was still in good condition or semi good. some of the vaults don't have hard to kill monsters even though the vault dwellers may have died in experiments? like rivet city used an old ship. vault 21 us re-used but only for a casino. why didn't people start to take vaults? (like 112 after you kill everyone you could easily kill the overseer and take it over.

Because Vaults suck as bases? Personal_Sig_Image.gif Tagaziel (call!) 15:59, August 23, 2012 (UTC)

Some did, like in vault city they kept theirs as a place for storage, and V15 with the Khans.

But frankly, poeple aren't designed to live in vaults, they're claustrophobic at the best of times (in a full vault you may be sharing your bed with other people, and I don't mean in a good way) they have limited (in variety) food sources, and when they break down, well you know how hard it is to get parts from Fallout 1.
