I understand that. Obviously, a medical doctor would be field trained in fallout. Hwoever, whatever a scientific doctor like your dad and Dr Li? Since there's really not a formal system of becoming a PhD, it must be really easy to become one. I could understand Dr. Zimmer since he's from MIT, but people like Li and James pretty much decided to steal a labcoat and read a few big book of science and become a PhD? --[[User:Big Wang|Big Wang]] 20:42, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

If you're going to question this, you may as well question the Lone Wanderer and Vault Dweller exiting their respective Vaults and turning into badass action heroes in a matter of days. --[[User:DGoose|DGoose]] 21:12, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Forums: Index > Fallout 3 general discussion > Where did all the doctors in Fallout 3 get their PhD from?

Li, Lesko, Barrows etc. If it's 200 years after the war, I doubt any university is open to confer any doctorates. So they're not really doctors since they never went through the education nor publish any thesis. --Big Wang 02:48, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

if your out in the wastes and someone knows how to heal you and fix your injuries and you pay them for it and don't die from it,I consider that to be all the qualification you need to be called a doctor.--Sluggishmeat 03:25, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

What Sluggish said. Doctor Li is also not a medical doctor, she's more of an engineer and physicist. She probably studied the Big Book of Science and other books for years, and decided to consider herself a professional. --DGoose 20:39, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

  • As one fellow vaultist told me "if you are trying to find logic in the fallout universe.. good luck." But, in all seriousnes have you done the wasteland survival guide? If so, then it is plausible that all the known knowledge of the pre-war period was stored in computers at the local library at every city, college, university, and tech school.

With time and dedication one could develope great knowlwge. The Ph.D could have been admistered by the computer it-self if the user passed a test that was given by a computer program.--Comrad Stalin 05:45, 9 August 2009 (UTC) P.S. Barrows the ghoul is 200, it is most likely that he was a doctor prior to the war.

I think from Who Cares University in Doesn't Matter, MD...Pgoon 20:57, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Personally, I tend to think that a) the "doctors" are just people who know about medicine - and b) Doctor Li is from Rivet City which was, iirc, a scientific project in the early days, so perhaps they had some people to teach the younger ones and "give" them the title of a PhD when they were ready. --Irian 21:09, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

this is easy . dont you remember after the bombs fell , civillization wasnt compeletly destroyed, asking your question would be lik asking how did they learn english or who taught them to read. remember vaults every vault had a specific purpose and we dont know Exactly how many vaults there wereand when they opened dr. li probably came from somewhere outside the wasteland or her ancestors were doctors and taught what the knew to thier kin, and so on . D.C. Journal of Internal Medicine, not for the PHD but its most likely where they got their medicinal knowledge from. Cmon people use your noodles! Lord Snip. 10:57, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Who says you need a diploma from a school to be called a Doctor? When I was younger, I was able to fix electronics without any schooling, and my family always called me "Dr. Fixit". If I was in the Fallout universe, I bet I'd still be called Doctor, even though I wasn't a Doctor of anything. --MadDawg2552 19:27, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Dr Fixit? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahha

How many years of school did Dr. Pepper have to suffer through? I mean, to have 23 flavors, the curriculum must have been rigorous! LVTDUDE 15:56, November 7, 2009 (UTC)
