Hmm... this is a pickle... can't rely on experience or knowledge... just pure speculation.
I would say clear communication is a good one, if you know what to expect from eachother then you won't be shocked by the other when they do something you might consider strange.
Is it too much to ask for good culinary skills? Actually yeah it is, they could ask for the same thing.
A woman who sees the harmless secrets as surprises: I don't know, whenever I think of a woman saying the whole, "it's because you lied to me." I just want to say back, I didn't do it to spite you! Just didn't know how you were going to take it and I was worried you would respond poorly!" it's this response that makes us not want to tell you our secrets when the guilt has eaten away our fear not to tell you.
Realistic tastes: If I have to buy you something un-necessarily expensive to make/keep you 'happy', then I don't want you around.
