Forums: Index > Fallout world discussion > What job would suit you best in the wasteland?

Your Wasteland profession. What job you would have after the vaults (or if you survived the bombs) opened? Tell why you would do it, how you would, where you set up shop, Base of Operations, what you would do while on the job. Try to make it something reasonable, not like an insane dictaor kinf of thing where your just sorta taking a big piss on everyone by saying it. This is, again, another new account of TheRedcoat. I didnt get banned again i just forgot the password.

Are we talking realistic wasteland jobs based on who we really are and what we're good at? If so, I work a lot with health data and communication and my favourite activities are writing and being creative, so in this post-apocalyptic world I think I'd be a chronicler of the experiences in the wasteland. I reckon I'd get a part-time job as a caravan guard for the journeying experience, writing down all the little details in a diary as we went along. Maybe romanticise these stories into fairytales or children's books. I probably wouldn't stay in the one place for too long, lending my services to the Followers of the Apocalypse when the caravans stopped at various towns where they were represented whilst still keeping that daily log =)

I would be in charge of a Mercenary company (Like Talon Company), giving people jobs for all kinds of things like Courier, Assassin, Sex buddy. And occasionally taking on big ones by myself, or with an elite team: Boone, Cass, and Fawkes, who after being a close friend to the Lone Wanderer traveled to the Mohave in search of Jacobstown. --LegionSniper569 04:40, June 4, 2011 (UTC)

To be honest Id probably be a mechanic. Ive always been good at fixing things. I would probably start a Caravan brach out Utah way...probably fixing weapons or other misc gear we find and selling them off to locals, like the New Caanonites(sorry for wrong spelling). Id try to vist Zion Valley time to time to trade with the Sorrows and other tribes. Also go i would vist california and Navada...maybe go to the Strip and Vault City...Maybe NCR if i can. The base of Operations would be somewhere neer Highway 80 or The remnants of New Caanon if the 80's hadnt been pushed back to Interstate 50. User:Helios1 04:33, June 5, 2011 (UTC)

I would open a restaurant and trading post in a well needed settlement on a good trade route and hunting grounds. Id manage both the restaurant and trading post but give the community jobs as well. Id be President or CEO, then my two vice chairmen each one represents and manages their respected business. Followed by the employees, which will include cashiers, bus boys, hunters, caravaneers, waiters/waitresses, and janitors/maintenance. Id name the restaurant the Meriweather Inn. I wont just be sitting behind a desk making orders, I'll also be out there hunting food and keeping up maintenance of the town. I dont want to go to war unless I have no other choice but to fight.--Zachattak471 06:27, June 6, 2011 (UTC)

I'd be a reporter/historian traveling the wastes with the followers of the Apocalypse, I would write extensively about the culture of post-apocalyptic societies and the political situations of the region. I would write a monthly column/report that would be syndicated in various independent newspapers in the republic. My writing would be both read and hated by the NCR elite for my outspoken criticism of imperialist NCR policies, NCR war crimes, the Kimball administration and Brahmin barons. I would also use my connections with traders who worked with the legion to get a first-hand look at the legion and an interview with caesar, my reporting would be the first look that average NCR citizens got at caesar (the devil himself to the NCR) and the culture their fighting. I would oppose both sides in the conflict, instead supporting an independent new vegas for the various peoples of the mojave. Eventually the ruling classes in the NCR and the NCR government would find me to be a nuisance and after a failed assassination attempt I would strike out deep into the wasteland living amongst the tribals where I would write detailed histories about the NCR, New Vegas, the war in the mojave, the legion and the other post-war cultures I encountered. My books would be contraband in the NCR but they would be silently printed and passed around, they would become valuable resources for future NCR historians.

My formal job with the followers would be that of an ecologist, I would write about the post-nuclear eco-systems and teach the locals to grow food and to replenish the soil and I would try to mediate conflict between factions where I could. I would spread the miracle of marijuana around the wasteland, traveling the wastes with a sack around my waist throwing marijuana seeds where I went. I would go down in legend as Johnny Marijuana-seed.

Tinkerer, restorationist, gearhead, and crazy mother fucker drifting the only running pickup truck since before the war through the desert! Nah, but in all seriousness, finding, restoring, and piloting old pre-war vehicles is right up my alley. I'm already doing that in real life if the condition of my F150 is anything to go by, and I can't imagine the pickups in Fallout are any more complex to work on. I'd just have to find rubbers that are alcohol safe and I'd be kosher. I'm the best at space!

Mercenary or BoS Paladin if the Mojave BoS has the same ideology with the Midwest BoS -James Jr 07:16, June 8, 2011 (UTC)

I would Reunite the Enclave, reinstate a new president, sack hidden valley appropriate ALL of their technology, which rightfully belongs to the Enclave in the first place. Sieze the strip, divert all power to th Helios 1 array, and use the Archimedes Oribital laser to rain down death on any enemies to us, and Claim all of Nevada as Enclave Territory.

I would work alone as an Assassin, I could either be paid for taking out a high profile target, or I would go around helping the poor and the weak from pathetic tyrants. --StayPuft 09:14, June 9, 2011 (UTC)

Probably a missionary, spreading the word of God across the wastes, but it wouldn't be a turn the other cheek chrch it would be a lets protect the wasteland chrch, it could workToestheUnwholy 18:02, June 10, 2011 (UTC)

Mine would be mercenary, the getting weapons would be easy go after weak people like the fiends at the end on FONV. All u would need is a repairman, 4-5 guys who are good shots, a medic, a guy who is good at making deals, and a headquarters. Watch, get the deal guy to buy some alright armor( leather armor, reinforced metal armor combat helmets) then when some fiends are sleeping use a knife to slit their throats, and take everything. next get your repair man to repair all your thing, u keep the guns and sell the armor to buy the headquarters if you don't have one, and stimpacks, last, with your weapons hit a big party of fiends (bring your medic) and wipe them out. repeat the last step and your good to go. --User:Denis517 4

A casino bouncer for the tops, just because I get to talk in a different way..."fink" or "cat"

Even better:A ghost person in the Sierra Madre! Ranger In Heavy Armor 18:56, June 20, 2011 (UTC)

I want to be a cowboy. id protect my own, scrape enough to survive. trade or steal/pickpocket what i need. scam outsiders out of there caps, work a farm or drive cattle. TRY not piss anyone off but gun down anyone i do. JimmyDreznaut017

I'd be some sort of Mob boss of a crime family like the Wrights or the Bishops. I'd use my influence to accumulate huge amounts of caps so I could hire a mercenary team to infiltrate the BOS and steal their power armor, then I'd set myself up with a fortified Casino/ Resort guarded by my Made-men outfitted with T-51Bs and assorted heavy weaponry. With my interests secure, I would devote my time to discovering the locations of prewar tech facilities so I could gather as many new weapons and gadgets as I could and eventually make a power-play to control California. Zac hemker 06:25, July 11, 2011 (UTC)

We would run a medical clinic and pharmacy as a father/son team Dad was a Navy Hospital Corpsman with the USMC and is currently a Pharmacist. Son would help collect ingredients and compound drugs. As we are both good shots, we would provide our own security. We would set up shop in Zion in the old Fishing Camp.DarthOrc 07:04, July 11, 2011 (UTC)DarthOrc

I would sell most of my stuff i got from the vault, disable the megaton bomb. Then buy a lab and sell aids[medx water stimpacks and radx] to Moria, and drugs to leo

"Just walk away... Just walk away" I'd go full raider. Let everyone else do the work then swoop in and take it by force! Enslave people, eat people(a doctor once told me that with proper cooking, only the human brain should be avoided, the rest is more or less fine!). I'd avoid drug use though, apart from stims and rad meds, I want to be fully conscious and aware of my actions while I fall into the complete depravity needed to survive in a world blown to hell. And there's just something about raider chicks wearing pasta-strainer bras. Dr. Lobotomy 20:47, August 6, 2011 (UTC)

If I'm by New Vegas, then The Aces Theatre. Im an actor. If not, probably a writer/journalist. Someone said for the Followers, who I largely support, so I'd go with that. --DictatorDom14 21:08, August 6, 2011 (UTC)

I'd be a hunter as I hunt a lot in real life. If theres any bucks still left then I'd stay in the Maryland where I call home. But if not I'd probably live in the core region and train a hunting dog. Id probably trade a lot too from anything I can scavenge. I'd probably write or help write a survival book, (kinda a copy off fo3 but yeah) to pass on knowledge. More Cowbell :) 22:33, August 19, 2011 (UTC)

I'd be a merc for a town, using melee weapons like golf clubs and super sledges. Like Rivet City, and I would also blow up megaton. Or maybe an assassin, but a nighttime assassin and slit peoples throats when they're sleeping. Pip-Boy 0ne trillion 23:04, August 19, 2011 (UTC)

I'd probably be a scribe in the Brotherhood of Steel since I would get to tinker with technology and computers and such and would be secluded for the most part and immersed in my work which fits my personality. Gary 42 03:16, August 25, 2011 (UTC)

I'd probably be a mercenary. Except I'd sell my services to those who need help, kindda like the A-Team, except there would be just one guy, me.--Ryker6107:57, August 25, 2011 (UTC)~12:52am 8/25/2011

I'd be a sniper next to a road digged into the sand, waiting for travellers all day and killing them on sight, than looting their stash. User:ChromeCrow 11:18 August 28, 2011

I'd probably just be a scavenger, and not a very good one at that, I might even need to be a raider since I have no idea how to grow mass amounts of food.

I've always liked trying to figure stuff out so fixing things isn't out of the question.

All and all though, nothing big.--98.243.111.18 20:36, December 31, 2011 (UTC)
