I'm relatively new to the Fallout mythos and something always confused me. The background of the world is spinning off of the real world post WW2 cold war period right? Then why is it the communist Chinese who are the red menance and not the Soviet Union? Is this explained somewhere? Is it similar to our world that eventually Russia fell by the wayside and the real communist "threat" was China? Or did something in-story happen? --MikeJTanner 17:46, September 26, 2011 (UTC)MikeJTanner

Yes. I was hoping there'd be more information as to why they fell by the way side. Dukov in F3 is from Russia..I wonder if things there are relatively normal or a NCR level of stable.

Perhaps in the 1970s of the Fallout world, the U.S. government reapproached Moscow instead of Beijing? Or maybe China wasn't even a superpower until the middle of the 21st century (Sort of like an analog to what they're predicting in our universe, except the Chinese in FO aren't just Commies In Name Only). I realize that the games have no real reason to elaborate, but I'd still like to know a bit more about geopolitics in the FO universe before 2077. --198.63.231.189 19:10, September 27, 2011 (UTC)
