Hi guys, Yes-Man here.
After figuring out how to make the Weekly Polls like Sam used to (if you've been here long enough to remember Crazy Sam's polls), I thought maybe I could throw up a nice poll every Sunday. Victor the Securitron is more than happy to assist me in setting up polls every week, and I would rather enjoy having the Weekly polls restored to their former glory.
The main issue is, as Agent C put it, is that we already have the Mystery Polls, the Hole, and the Strategic Nuclear Moose... making yet another community blog somewhat pointless. I just want to know what the community thinks about the WWP being re-started with yours truly at the helm, and if so, what we do about the overflow of polls and the sort.
- I think a bit of variety is okay, but I'm worried as Yessie's indicated about being all voted out. Maybe some variety in who is creating the existing polls might be good, but maybe in addition we should be looking at other "interactive" features... I did suggest this a few months ago but Theme Park Insider runs an Apprentice style contest where challengers create ideas for rides, shops, restaurants, shows, etc culminating in the final which usually involves creating a theme park idea... here's their final...Agent c 01:18, February 26, 2012 (UTC)
- It's good to have some initiatives from users, but we already have plenty of diversity on this wiki like mentioned above and this one is 'competing' with Mystery's poll. Too much of the same and the poll's subject choices would run dry twice as fast. And I think this is also a good opportunity to mention that we are a wiki, and a wiki's main purpose is adding and updating content and not so much entertaining the members while we're between games. I mean, I do appreciate all the efforts in that, but the main focus needs to stay the content and we should not divert further away from that in my opinion. Jspoel 01:39, February 26, 2012 (UTC)
Hmm... I really don't know what should I think. On one side, there is no restriction to make polls, as everyone is free to make them. However, as I do make them, I don't know if additioanl is required. I would like more people to state their opinions. MysteryStranger: Trust in the power of Infinity! 17:19, February 26, 2012 (UTC)
- As Poll Man River, normally I would say the more, the merrier, but in recent events there has become a flux of community-centered objectives (SNM, Mystery Polls, The Hole, etc.). Back in August or September (really anytime before the split), the community had two polls biweekly (mine and Sam's) which in my opinion was enough. As Jspoel said, a wiki's main concern should be its content rather than catering to its user population and trying to keep them entertained (personally, I read articles to keep myself entertained). To pick up where Sam left off is admirable, but at the moment I feel that it's extraneous. You're welcome to give me ideas for my polls; my idea well is running dry!
