Forums: Index > Wiki proposal votes > Vote: Chat emoticon maintenance policy

The purpose of this poll is to determine how new emoticons are going to be added in the future. Either we leave it up to the administrators to determine which emotes, if any, are going to be added in a ad-hoc basis (the current system), or if new emotes should be added exclusively by means of community polls.

Simultaneous but independent of this vote is the one to determine which of the emoticons already in existence are going to remain, and can be found here.

The previous community discussions of this topic can be found here and here, and the preliminary vote discussion cane be found here.

How should the chat emoticons be maintained?

  • Sysop discretion: chat emoticons will be added at the discretion of the administrators. Suggestions for inclusions or removals should be forwarded to them.
  • Polls: chat emoticons will be added by means of community polls.

  1. Yes I believe the alternative is just bureaucratic busywork. The system worked fine so far, and in almost three years only a single incident happened regarding emoticons.

  4. Yes I think it's best we leave this to the administrators for good judgement. It's worked so far so I see no reason to change it. If it ain't broke don't fix it. ---bleep196- (talk) 22:04, February 3, 2014 (UTC)

  9. Yes The easiest course of action. The alternative is just far to much effort for far too little return. --The Old World Relics (talk/blog/contributions) 01:38, February 4, 2014 (UTC)
  10. Yes Like what the general consensus seems to be, I feel community polls are superfluous and would muddle things up quite a bit. --TwoBearsHigh-Fiving Intercom01 01:40, February 4, 2014 (UTC)

  15. Yes This is the optimal approach in both time and decisiveness over something so spontaneous and simple as emoticons. --The Ever Ruler (talk) 22:15, February 5, 2014 (UTC)
