I recruited the Vault Tec Rep from Goodneighbor and he got to Sanctuary just fine, but now I can't assign him to do anything? I can still select him, but whenever I try to assign him to anything, nothing happens. Has anyone else encountered this issues and/or a fix for it?
I've heard that this is a regular problem with him in Sanctuary Hills only, so moving him to another settlement and assigning him to something may work. However, I have not done this myself so I can't verify it's validity. Tuhlore (talk) 20:13, January 31, 2016 (UTC)
This has happened to me as well. First playthrough was fine. I gave him a store right by the bridge and he did fine. This time, I assigned him a store and built him a little room behind it and assigned him to the bed there and he is NEVER there. Push You Down (talk) 20:58, February 2, 2016 (UTC)
I think all named merchants are bugged and useless, so much so that I did not even bother to get bottlecaps perk my second play though as level 2 shops earn plenty of caps in no-time and are much easier to place. Dragonalumni (talk)
I had the same problem. But then I talked to him, thinking "let's give it a shot". Then sole suvivor says something that he could need him, because he could be a great sales asset. After dialogue I could choose where to send him, sent him to sanctuary (where he already was) and now I could assign him to my shop.
- Note: If you tabbed out(exit the dialogue) or did not select the settlement from the list at the first time, the dialogue may not pop up again. He will only talks like settlers, unassignable to anything. Fix this by resetting the dialogue event.

- 2. talk to him again and SELECT A SETTLEMENT FROM THE LIST. (If he was already at Sanctuary Hills and you want him there you have to select 'Sanctuary Hills' from the list as well.)

I agree that the merchants are bugged. On my current playthrough I had to reset Rylee when I couldn't recruit her (stuck in front of the cannery) but then she disappeared from Red Rocket. GRPeng (talk) 00:23, July 19, 2017 (UTC)
