We'll get to the bottom of this... First of all, there are more than three computer terminals. If you look around the walls of the database room, there's a computer in each little alcove. Also, my bad, the button you'll want to press on each terminal is "Access database". Sorry, I already beat this and don't have a save for reference, so I'm going by memory. Basically, though, you go to ''every'' computer in the room, hit access database, and if you get a virus message, isolate it. I doubt it's bugged, you're just confused, dude! Keep it up! Did you use your science skill when talking to Ibsen? Either way It's broken and you have to reload to a point where you have not started it yet.

I have had the same issue. I talked to Isben, used science to suggest the quarantine. Then when he goes to the terminal on the column and says the virus has jumped, I have 3 terminals with the check partition option but they dont give me the option to isolate the virus. I go to every other terminal in the room in the allotted time and none of them have the option to create the partition or isolate the virus. It seems like the thing is glitched or something, cuz I never get the option to isolate. Is there anyone who can tell me what to do, or am I just out of luck with this optional part of the quest?

If you know which three computers to check, try clicking "Access Database" on each of them when you play the virus mini-game thing. Then try to Create a Partition again on each computer. If that doesn't work, you may be able to fix this with console commands on PC somehow. If you're on a console, you might be stuck.[[Special:Contributions/67.184.152.132|67.184.152.132]] 04:09, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

It IS a glitch. The solution I found to get out of the situation(the three terminals are partitioned, but virus is still free) is to use the autosave that should(hopefully) be at the entrance to the bunker floor. Then you must isolate the virus in a single attempt(saving right after the timer starts makes it easy, since the virus locations will not change after reloading).

You only need to secure ONE terminal at a time., so dont think you need to secure all three before time runs out. Also, if you have a high enough Science skill, you can tell ibsen how to partition the drive as a way of isolating it. I'm not sure this is required, but it's what allowed me to finally get past this part. After you find a virus, confirm the partition!

my advice is to save after you find the first one. after that you can keep systematically ruling out the ones that dont have the virus.

Forums: Index > Fallout: New Vegas gameplay help > Still in the dark how do i fix virus?

plzplzplz can somebody tell me how to fix the terminals in the mission still in the dark when trying to acsess the history for the high paladin . i have tried everything and i just dont understand what i am supposet to be doing with theese terminals any answers would be verry verry verry much apriciated :S

Start at one end of the room and go around checking each terminal as quickly as possible. Three of them will give you the option to isolate the virus. Get the three terminals and you'll fix the data cache. It's kinda tricky, but you can try as many times as you need. MFToast - talk 20:10, October 23, 2010 (UTC)

i have 3 terminals that say "check partition" do i have to press all theese 3 when he says "the virus has jumped" or do i need to check different ones?

Here's how it goes. You talk to him, and say yes when he asks you if you'd like to help isolate the virus. In my game he walked to the same terminal each time, one on a column. As soon as he says "The virus has jumped", go to each terminal as quickly as possible and click the "Check partition" button. Most terminals will just give you jarbled text when you click this, but three of the terminals will have a message like "Try and catch me, suckers!", "The clock is ticking", and there's one more that says "Have you found the other two terminals yet?". Then click the "Isolate virus" button. Once you've found the three terminals with the virus on them and isolated it, the data cache will be fixed and you'll have some access to the data. Of course, don't expect that to be the end of it. Keep at it and don't get frustrated, you'll get it. MFToast - talk 05:29, October 24, 2010 (UTC)
