Hm, well, before making a vote, it is best for me to make my saying about character categories.
As you see, we have Category:Ghoul characters, Category:Human characters and Category:Super mutant characters. What I am offering is to make some specific categories, (example: Category:Fallout 3 human characters instead of just Category:Human characters).
- The new categories would ensure which person (under race category) appeared in which game. Having Human characters category in an article is a bit abstract, as there are nearly 3000 articles under Human category. Placing a game in which appeared in (Category:Fallout 3 human characters) would make certain in which game and which race the person is.
- Here is a list of the categories that should be changed:
- Super mutant characters
- Human characters
- Ghoul characters
- Here is a list of the categories that should be changed:
- Deathclaw characters
- Robot characters
Leave any comment or suggest categorization changes.

Especially that Human characters category is rather crowded isn't it? As far as I'm concerned it's a go. Wait a bit for some more community input but if it's generally positive you can ask Ghost or Theodorico to do the botwork. Jspoel 16:20, August 23, 2012 (UTC)
- Deathclaw characters category is too small to be split I think and can stay as it is. The rest is ok to be split.
- Not the robot characters category. Is already separated into subcategories, splitting them more per game is unnecessary and would scatter it too much.
(←) Sounds good to me. --Skire (talk) 16:48, August 23, 2012 (UTC)
I must agree, I think it's a great idea to thin out some of those categories. -- "This is my road, you'll walk it as I say" 17:00, August 23, 2012 (UTC)
Can you specify exact list of new categories, please? Because i think, that we should avoid splitting down to the DLCs level. --Theodorico (talk) 20:47, August 23, 2012 (UTC)
- Don't think a split to the DLC is needed. Those can be added to the base game category. This is the list for now.
- I like this idea a lot, and I think that you guys have covered it pretty well. It's good for everyone, since it organises mixed up characters per game in which they are displayed, and it feels better for the person who's searching the category, since there's going to be less characters in each page, and they're going to be specified. Great idea.
- And I agree that the DLCs don't need their own categories. They don't have enough of these characters to earn separate categories. --C'n-Frankie -ArroyoTalk 22:24, August 26, 2012 (UTC)

J, I think you are forgetting Fallout and Fallout 2 as-well need to be completed. -- "This is my road, you'll walk it as I say" 21:28, August 23, 2012 (UTC)
- Got that. Jspoel 21:29, August 23, 2012 (UTC)
- I know, that everyone hates BOS, but shouldn't we include it, for the sake of completion?
- Super mutant characters has 62 pages, do we want to scatter them across 6-7 categories? --Theodorico (talk) 22:07, August 23, 2012 (UTC)
You can add FOBOS too. And the super mutant category can be split. Think it's worth it. We have so many category with less than 10 entries. Jspoel 22:12, August 23, 2012 (UTC)
- What about Van Buren? Energy X ∞ 07:22, August 24, 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah! What about every item in Template:Games? :) --Theodorico (talk) 14:16, August 24, 2012 (UTC)
- Those too of course. The characters in Category:Human characters need to be spread out through the game specific human categories and the human category eventually should end up empty. Same thing with ghouls and super mutants. Jspoel 15:36, August 24, 2012 (UTC)
That's what we'll get, if we'll go by Template:Games:
Supa-Muties (without Nigthkinies): F02: 1 pages # Yes! No humans, because 3K pages not a walk in the park even for a bot. And don't take this too literally, it's just an instant-hack and serves only for illustration. (←)
Super mutants
- Who's the F02 super mutant? You can add that one to FO2.
- FB can join with FO1 or FO2
- 2 FNV dlc pages can join with FNV; no separate dlc super mutant character cat.
- 1 FO3 dlc page can join with FO3; no separate dlc super mutant character cat.
- FOBOS1/2 can be joined in one category.
- FOX, just one then
Ghouls
- 2 FB pages can join with FO1 or FO2
- 9 FNV dlc pages can join with FNV; no separate dlc ghoul character cat.
- 20 FNV dlc pages can join with FO3; no separate dlc ghoul character cat.

- Maybe, we can merge FB+AR+PA into the "Fallout publications human/ghoul/super mutant characters"? --Theodorico (talk) 21:09, August 24, 2012 (UTC)

--Theodorico (talk) 17:28, August 25, 2012 (UTC)
You can merge FB, AR and PA into Fallout publications category and this new overview looks good. I think Broken Steel as a DLC can have its own ghoul character category, 13 entries warrants that. Jspoel 19:02, August 25, 2012 (UTC)
Counting everything what have been said:
Super mutants: "Category:Fallout super mutant characters" - 22 page(s) "Category:Fallout 2 super mutant characters" - 11 page(s) "Category:Fallout 3 super mutant characters" - 3 page(s) "Category:Fallout: New Vegas super mutant characters" - 8 page(s) "Category:Fallout Tactics super mutant characters" - 14 page(s) "Category:Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel super mutant characters" - 3 page(s) "Category:Van Buren super mutant characters" - 4 page(s) "Category:Fallout Extreme super mutant characters" - 1 page(s) "Category:Fallout publications super mutant characters" - 2 page(s) Ghouls: "Category:Fallout ghoul characters" - 11 page(s) "Category:Fallout 2 ghoul characters" - 21 page(s) "Category:Fallout 3 ghoul characters" - 36 page(s) "Category:Broken Steel ghoul characters" - 13 page(s) "Category:Fallout: New Vegas ghoul characters" - 28 page(s) "Category:Fallout Tactics ghoul characters" - 16 page(s) "Category:Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel ghoul characters" - 5 page(s) "Category:Van Buren ghoul characters" - 20 page(s) "Category:Fallout publications ghoul characters" - 3 page(s)
Not bad, to my likings, except of FOX with 1 page. As for the humans. i think that we should categorize them in 2 passes. First pass with only the most assured categories and ignoring everything else, as this will reduce base category to few hundreds of pages and allow me to make an overview of what was left. Then we can figure out how to categorize leftovers with the real numbers at our hands. For the first pass i suggest "FO1/FO2/FO3/FNV human characters", with no grouping whatsoever. --Theodorico (talk) 16:38, August 26, 2012 (UTC)
