I have a simple question for anyoine who has completed the main quest. Is it possible for me to mainly focus on the main quest, but when the last part comes up, just go back and do all the side quests. What I'm saying is that if I advance in the main quest will it affect any of the side quests? TheRookie94 03:57, 24 December 2008 (UTC) TheRookie94
From what I've seen you can do this. I intend on doing going through the main quest until Raven Rock, getting Fawkes, then completing all other side quests with him and Charon by my side. --Greensborohill 15:17, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
I'm trusting you on this... but yeh, I'm probably going to do what you do. I want to amost complete the main quest, then go back and do all the side quests for extra stuff 16:44, 24 December 2008 (UTC) TheRookie94
- My impression was that the best point to break way from the Main Quest is before heading into Vault 87. That'll spawn the Enclave and let you use Power Armor. All you're short is Fawkes. --DarkJeff 16:46, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
You can go right up to the point where you are asked to join the assault on the Jefferson Memorial, tell Ms. Lyons you need to prepare, and take off and do your thing. I have even fast travelled out from the Citadel while he main assault was happening, then when I came back, it was like they were waiting for me. (Don't advance too far away from the door, you will get the message that you can't fast travel when enemies are nearby). I think that's as far as I've taken it, but it seems like you could just walk away from the battle go to Rivet City and have lunch, and come back later. There is a time limit on the last decision, but I don't think that kicks in until you get into the building's rotunda. ~vaultboy
- I did the exact opposite. I didn't even meet my father until i was level 20. I killed everyone in Paradies Falls at level 4 and after freeing the
slaves and killing Eulogy Jones, it boosted by level to 6. I think this kinda screwed up my game, cause I can't find dogmeat at the scrapyard
anymore, and the big town mission where you fix the robots to defend the town, well the robots are not even in the junkyard..
Generally I like to complete them before you meet your father, just seems like it gives the rest of the main plot a better flow, but yes you could. The enclave may interfere a small bit with the side quests as in meeting them en route to locations which can be annoying, but you could. Coldwars40 19:03, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
You can progress up to the point where you have to enter the rotunda of the Jefferson Memorial during the final assault. Once you enter it during the final battle, the door locks behind you and you have no way of getting out, and thus you must finish the game. So as long as you don't enter the rotunda you can go and do whatever you want to in regards to side quests and exploring 18.104.22.168 16:26, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
