Would all users please refresh themselves with the "Guidelines for better user conduct"?

Guidelines for better user conduct

User conduct guidelines are general recommendations for user conduct, but gross violations may be enforced by administrative action.

• Be bold: If you find something that can be improved, improve it and encourage others to do the same.
• Be polite: It's not only important what you say but also how you say it. Be civil when talking to other people and treat them with respect. This site is built on cooperation.
• Assume good faith: Do your best to assume that other editors are trying to help unless you have evidence to the contrary. Accidents happen, and not everybody has a lot of experience with editing a wiki.
• Use edit summaries: Edit summaries are there to explain your changes - use them as often as possible. It helps with getting everybody on the same page and prevents conflicts with other editors.
• Feel free to leave messages on user talk pages: User talk pages are exempt from the rule above as it is their purpose to be edited by others. The general guidelines for talk pages above apply, with the exception that you are allowed to archive your talk page from time to time.
• Sign comments: You should add four tildes (~~~~) to the end of all of your comments on talk and forum pages, otherwise other people will not know it was you who made the edit. Do not get carried away and do the same thing in articles though, only on talk pages and forums.

Huh?

We've always had a "robust" debate culture here, but its getting out of hand. It seems no forum these days gets far without a load of derail attempts, insults, and counter insults. I've had to wipe one forum, and post a bolded warning on another. Some of this comes from people who should know better, and maybe I've been guilty from time to time.

I don't want a repeat. If you can't discuss the issues, then I suggest you and the other person find a boxing ring and let us bet on which one of you walks away. Agent c (talk) 23:07, August 24, 2015 (UTC)

At the risk of sounding like a child and say, "He/she started it!", I dare contest this flavor of "debating" surrounds particular users who, on top of breaking these guidelines, illicit defensive remarks that break these guidelines and that this requires disciplinary action of the original users to curb.

To dare go a step further with potential disregard for this entire reminder in this next remark, I have a bad gut feeling no rhetoric will satisfy these supposed users and disciplinary action is merely a punch-out card to an inevitable but necessary perma-block for them.

I do recognize it's heavy-handed to find a subtle root of bad faith early and discipline it but there's probably some way we can recognize those attempting to mitigate the situation and those instigating it and go from there.

I've been here long enough to recognize patterns of "drama" around certain users and it saddens me to believe administrative action is the only effective means to change or stop it. I take solace with the hope that if effectively applied to them, it'll be effectively applied to me and we can expediently proceed doing what we're supposed to be doing:

Providing convenient and intuitively organized content about the Fallout franchise for enthusiastic video game hobbyists. Otherwise, my money and favor is on the ones who can ban/block the other. --The Ever Ruler (talk) 02:27, August 26, 2015 (UTC)
