Its come to my attention that the page containing the info on the News Digest needs to be updated in line with current practice. I hope you all feel I haven't taken too many liberties with changes... Some I flagged beforehand, some I kinda took the liberty on, but noone complained so I kept doing what I was doing... I think the time has come for standards to reflect practice.
I'm not actually proposing anything "new" here today, just an update on the page to what has been happening already - although as always I am happy to accept any feedback/comments/new ideas/etc; remove stuff I've been doing, include new stuff, etc.
You can find the Vault-era policy here. I propose changing this article with the following:
The Nukapedia News Digest is a summary of Nukapedia's recent internak news, and other news of interest to the community . It is the place to mention all the small things and improvements which do not justify an own news item and is posted weekly on the main page, if there is enough news in a given week to warrant such a digest.
Important or extremely interesting news items should typically be posted on the day the news breaks in their own post, unless a new digest is imminent.
How does it work?Edit
Any editor may suggest items to be included in the next issue. The issues are usually posted by User:Agent_c. Items can be suggested in the comments section on the most recent digest, or on User_talk:Agent_c's talk page.
What kind of content should be included?Edit
The Nukapedia News Digest is content is generally split into the following categories
This includes: user rights votes and changes, policy votes and discussions and other important announcements Game and developer News
This is for smaller items on the Fallout games, Wasteland games, and the developers and companies behind the games. Depending on the content this may be split under multiple headings. During periods where there is a lot of new content coming, this may be split out into a separate "News Tidbits" post.
News of upcoming changes or Wikia webinars
This is an opportunity to feature New, closing, and ongoing projects to attract editors and thank participants. Wrap
This may include an optional "lighter" news feature (such as the ongoing "relic of the war that wasn't" series) as long as it doesn't overwhelm the rest of the news (and is not the sole reason for posting) and may include other announcements; but always should include a location to post new suggestions and items, and the next intended publish date.
Creating a new pageEdit
- Wiki news digests can be posted via Special:CreateBlogPage.
- They should be named "Nukapedia News Digest" (date of publication).
- [[File:WikiDigestLogo2.png|right]] should be added at the top.
- [[Category:news]] [[Category:(month) 2012 news]] and [[Category:Nukapedia news]] should be included at the bottom.

For the most part I agree on the format listed here. I think that the way it is presented currently, as a Newscast-magazine style is interesting if slightly unprofessional. Maybe a more formal approach would suit Nukapedia better.
On a second note, I think we should have an area where Jspoel and Clyde can discuss their wishes for Nukapedia, so we can move forward and work on projects with uniform support rather than piecemeal as it is now. Apocalypse Now! 05:02, May 19, 2012 (UTC)
- Anyone at any time is welcome to contribute content to the news - including our bureaucrats. As for their wishes, ultimately as a wiki their wishes for direction are in some ways equal to everyone else's. As for the informal tone, I'll run a survey in the next news to see what readers prefer. Agent c 20:01, May 21, 2012 (UTC)
