We're just made a few changes to the way we're going to use the {{verify}} on articles. Here's the highlights:

Template usage[]

Base template[]

The base template usage {{Verify|~~~~~}} will only be used for statements of fact or other such things like GECK data that needs verification. Do not use this usage for bugs and citations. Always time stamp these templates by adding five tildas (~~~~~). After the fact is verified, remove the verify template.

For use in bug sections only[]

  • For new and unverified bugs. Always leave a time stamp.
{{Verify|~~~~~|type=bug}}

  • For bugs that have been verified. Never remove bugs without attempting to verify them. Always remove the time stamp and the |type=bug parameter.

For use in references sections only[]

  • For citations needing verification. Always leave a time stamp. After the citation is verified, remove the verify template.

Category inclusion[]

I have changed the way the template automatically adds pages to categories.

Base template[]

Usage of the base template for verification of facts will automatically add the page to Category:Verify, and after 4 weeks will also add the page to Category:Verification overdue.

Bugs[]

Usage of the template for verification of bugs will automatically add the page to Category:Bug verification needed, and after 4 weeks will also add the page to Category:Bug verification overdue. After a bug is verified, the template automatically moves the page to the hidden Category:Articles with verified bugs.

References[]

Usage of the template for verification of citations will automatically add the page to Category:Citation verification needed, and after 4 weeks will also add the page to Category:Citation verification overdue.

Comments[]

I just added a hidden category for verified bugs to help with the bug project. You will only see the category on pages if you select "Show hidden categories" in your user preferences.
