Forums: Index > Wiki discussion > New format for comparison table

About

This is an idea of a new weapon comparison system, where statistical notes of a weapon and a unique weapon are added together in a one modified collapsible navigational box. The purpose of the new comparison template is to give the most accurate weapon comparison for future game weapons and present game weapons. Sample

{{ComparisonBox
|weaponA = Weapon A
|statisticsA = DAM - A, DPS - A
|imageA = (image of weapon A)
|infoA = (any notable description)
|weaponB = Unique weapon A1
|statisticsB = DAM - A1, DPS - A1
|imageB = (image of unique weapon B)
|infoB (any comparable descrption of Unique Weapon A to Weapon A)
}}

Guidelines

  • Damage changes and weapon improve from perks are included, and so as traits.
  • Skill/strength requirement is not included.
  • Lines is separated using commas.
  • For unique weapons, on the info section - "has a unique texture" won't be added because of the image that will explain its visual changes.
  • The parameters can only support up to D, depending of how many variants a weapon has and D is the maximum.

Why are the bullets inside the infobox? Limmiegirl Lildeneb Talk! ♪ 14:24, March 20, 2012 (UTC)

I personally like the tables that are currently on the weapons pages. For one they're easier to reader (I had to look for a couple seconds to find what was being compared). I find it easier to look to the side and follow that row along to get to the information I need on the weapon. That brings me to my next point. There are only 3 concrete facts on the table (DAM, DPS, and CRITDAM), but the tables already put up have things like attacks/second, spread, ammo capacity, crit multiplier, weight, etc; things that your tables don't have. There's also the fact that you use words in the description like "good" and "decent amount". These descriptions are subjective, so they won't work. What's wrong with the current comparison boxes? --Kastera (talk) 15:52, March 20, 2012 (UTC)
I've been doing a lot of work to these tables recently with the aim of making them all consistent and, as much as I can, more readable. They're a comparison, so people will want to see the info for one weapon right next to the info for another, without big gaps or different sections to look to. I would rather keep the current format where the info is laid out in a nice tight, evenly spaced format. I also would rather not make the tables collapsable, as that should be saved for nav boxes and such. I don't want to have to click any more buttons to get to the info that I want than necessary. To all those replies, the template is in prototype stage. I am going to modify it more often, so just wait for further updates, my friends. Vault boy joker by forarkan-d33uxps (1) "Truth is, the game's rigged from the start."
I will join the tables on the template, and the only changes is that notable things of a weapon is included, including the image. Vault boy joker by forarkan-d33uxps (1) "Game's rigged from the start."
