Hello. I started playing Fallout New Vegas and I took a liking to the NCR, so I helped them out. I've done all the quests I can find for them, and I've reached the Liked status on the reputation screen. I also just recently finished entering the Brotherhood of Steel and the Boomers. I'm on the quests dealing with Mr. House, and I'm probably going to end up killing him. I'm also not wearing any faction armor, just my standard Reinforced Leather Armor. But everywhere I go I'm constantly attacked by NCR troops. I have no effing idea why this is, and this glitch is really ruining the game for me. Does anybody know something that can help me out?
It depends on a few thinsg that I can think of.
How far along the House Always Wins quest line are you? There comes a point where you cross a line and the NCR gets pissed at you for not supporting them.
Also, did you lay any mines near BitterSprings to deal with the Legion attack that is part of Boone's quest? I did and forgot to remove them and when I went back to BitterSprings, some NCR troopers spawned near the mines and BOOM! Dead NCR troopers and massive loss of rep with them hence the phrase, "Careless Mines Cost Lives".
My suggestion is you go back to an earlier save and start again from there or just deal with the fact that you're now Public Enemy No.1 with the NCR and will haver to fight them all the way till the end.

Its possible to do Mr House’s quests right up to the Hoover dam without losing NCR reputation and them turning hostel. The one thing that might have happened is when (or if) you installed the override chip in to substation if any NCR saw you they can turn hostel after that. ReapTheChaos 00:38, June 21, 2011 (UTC)
`Alright. I've read up on some fixes, and apparently this is a widely known bug where if you equip a factions armor the game could permanently register you as a member of that faction. But there weird thing is is that I equiped Legion armor, which then madde the NCR not attack me, but other people will. That makes no sense...
OHhey. So I think I know what youre going through. Um, IDK how to fix it other than NEVER wear faction armor. Ive had a problem with wearing faction armor since before Dead Money was released. Basically every time I put on a factions armor my reputations with certain Factions would be reset to Neutral. Its a bug that can only be fixed by *sigh* Obsidian releasing it in a patch. :/ Which I know is a big bone of contention with this company but is the only foreseeable solution. Unless someone makes an unofficial patch and releases it but even then It would only be available PC users, and Console users , like moi, would still be SOL haha. So yeah. I know it sucks man because I have Charaters that are supposed to be members of the NCR and Legion respectively but I cant use the armor because of this glitch. So it sucks but Ive learned to look past it.
On a slightly related note. I have a character that is Vilified by Legion and today I walked by a Centurion wandering the wasteland and he didnt attck me. That was wierd. The vilified factons not attacking you is something that has happened to me several times. In fact, I was right in the middle of a battle with several Legion soldiers, killed a few, and then the others remains turned from red to green. They just up and walked away, not even running. I walked right by them, and it wasn't until I started attacking again that they turned on me. --DarkCheshire 00:29, June 23, 2011 (UTC)
(How to solve the problem):
I had the following problem: after completing The lonesome road the NCR was shooting at me, although I had a positive reputation with them (I was liked). If you want to solve the problem, you must edit the "faction" parameters and not "reputation" ones. What you have to do is:
setally <base_id_1> <base_id_2> <variable_1> <variable_2>
so, if you want the NCR to stop shooting at you, because it's a glitch, you type:
setally 000a46e7 0001b2a4 1 1
the first code is NCR faction (not NCR reputation), second is you (player faction). the "1" means ally. If you have similar problems, got to:
http://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_console_commands
and look for "Fallout: New Vegas factions" codes. It works.

I completed ghost town gunfight, after killing joe cob and his gang, by reputation with the Powder Gangers went to straight to vilified. The same thing occurred when I killed vulpues and his legionaries at Nipton, with my reputation with the Legion went to straight to vilified. I need help
