Here's the story. I approached Hovering Anomaly with my Anti-Material Rifle, and I take out the hostile Captain from a distance with one shot. No conflict was actually initiated, and the other aliens just kept patrolling the general area.
I was able to walk up to them and get a closer look, and some mood music I've never heard before starts playing. (Mood music as in what you hear when your radio is off)
