The USMC aren't the only branch of having Sempre Fidelis (the fleshed out version of Sempre fi); "Semper fidelis is also the motto of the 11th Infantry Regiment, which was founded in May 1861 by President Abraham Lincoln. It served as part of the Army of Ohio and later in the Indian wars, Spanish-American war, 1916 Mexican Border war, World War I, World War II, and the Vietnam war. Today it trains young Army officers at Fort Benning, Georgia." It could have been incorporated into US Army proper in Fallout-verse or, Horrigan was a USMC experiment from before the War. The Enclave just used him like they re-purposed Vertibirds and Plasma rifles.

well the time split happens during the beginning of the cold war and the marines were the first official military unit in the us before the army or the navy (i am of course refering to pre-revoloutinary war) and also there is a navy and there is evidence of it rivet city is an aircraft carrier also they had to move troops to china right after anchorage some of it would be done by plane but most of it would be done by the navy

You're talking about the Continental Marines, right? Sorry, but they don't count. Even though the marines use 1775 as the Marine Corps Birthdate, the Continental Marines were disbanded in 1793. So there is a good possibility that Pre-War Fallout never had a (modern) Marine Corps. RadRuler 21:49, August 19, 2010 (UTC)

Well everything happened right up until they dropped the bomb the on nagasaki i think which ever one is first everything up until then happened at the same time and same place the guy that went out and fed his chickens at 4 am on a saturday in 1403 it happened same time same place so the marines would still exist/happen

Well it can safely be assumed that a Department of the Navy existed aboard the Poseidon Oil Rig (Enclave), and therefore it would be safe to assume that the USMC still existed, though probably their primary duties would be provost and security.
  +
:^^^ Sign your posts please. And that would be QUITE an assumption, to assume the USMC exists simply because the Navy does. The Navy has tactical combat occupations as well, such as the SEALs, so the marines would not be the only option for security measures. RadRuler 21:52, October 7, 2010 (UTC)

I think their might be one mention of the U.S.M.C. In Fallout 3 theirs a truck on one the highways to the north west with a note about arresting certain chinese and Im pretty sure that its either signed or is adressed to the U.S.M.C, so they might of atleast existed before the bombs dropped. :A USMC order directed specifically at contractors that cant be viewed by Marines? AND it's in FO3? There is not a single bit of this that isn't BS. I'm calling this an accident on the part of the creators. It's more likely than the alternative, which is that every other mention of the military just forgot about an entire branch. The US Marines have always been a seperate branch from the Navy, way before ww2, the Marine Corps just belonged to the same department as the Navy, which means only that the two branches have the same civilian leadership, nothing more. So its safe to say the Marines existed in the Fallout universe much the same way as today, and are in some way or another around during the time the games take place. -CJ.USMC

:They're STILL around during the time the game takes place?! Thats amazing! The Corps managed to survive with all of it's members wiped out by nuclear bombs! Still, the fact that they have a history doesn't mean they are the same in the Fallout world as this one. In fact, following WW2 (when the divergence occured) there was a movement to divide the Marine Corps duties between the Army and Navy. If this had passed, that would explain why the Marine Corps is not mentioned very often in the Fallout series, and why some Marine phrases ("Semper Fi") would still be present in the Army. So that's my theory: the Marines were shifted from a branch to a part of the Army, like SF or the Airborne Rangers. RadRuler 19:21, November 7, 2010 (UTC)

I think the Marines merged with the BoS or Enclave. Same thing could have happened to the Air Force. It could also explain how both sides know how to fly Vertibirds.

The simple theroy is just that they died during the bombs. The Marines are a division of the Navy, so it is kinda they are missing from everyhting. It could be an oversight, or maybe they thought Semper Fi from Horrigan and The Sgt from Anchorage would be enoguh. Also, Benjy is a Gunnery Sgt which is only in the Corps, so that might be proof. in any case they obviously weren't good enough to survive like the army had. and all elements of their existence is rare. plus im sure the Chinese would destroy the navy seeing as its our main operating force. JimmyDreznaut017 00:27, July 20, 2011 (UTC)

Is there any info as to what happened to the US Marines? We've got remnants of the US Army and the Pre-War G'ment, so could the Marines be somewhere? BoS Paladin Thumbnail Knight Captain Ski (talk) 01:55, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

Seeing that there is no post war navy, there can't really be marines anyway. Big McLargeHuge 06:01, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

Just cause the Navy is gone doesn't mean the Marines are. Actually, I think Navy personnel probably had the best chance of survival out of anyone as long as they were at sea when the bombs fell. BoS Paladin Thumbnail Knight Captain Ski (talk) 15:02, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
