I'm making a build based on the grunt perk. I want to use the assault carbine, all american, survivalist's rifle, thump thump, and chances knife. Any perks or other weapons I should get? 24.11.53.23 10:24, May 27, 2011 (UTC)

The Grunt perk finally makes FNV goes full circle and allows you to build a courier solely focused on weapons, without spending points in secondary skills. You can take the Grunt perk for the afformentioned weapons, the Cowboy perk for lever-action/revolvers, Shotgun Surgeon/And Stay Back for shotguns, Weapon Handling if your strength is low, Heavyweigh for cutting the weigh of some weapons (like the .45 SMG), Rapid Reload, Hand Loader, The Professional and Quick Draw. Then you can choose if you go with light or heavy armor, picking Light Touch or In Shinning Armor and choosing your style, if VATS oriented or guns blazing.

I think this is great, with you ask me.

But since you ask about the perk specifically, it wouldn't hurt if you pick Shotgun Surgeon/And Stay Back for shotguns, this way you have something for close encounters. And Stay Back make shotguns knock down opponents, so you can finish them more easely. Just a note, I made a test with this perk and Vance SMG becames a utterly beast with it, beating by miles the Assault Carbine. The only draw back is the lack of AP ammo, but since you are using All-American, I would switch the Assault Carbine for Vance's gun. Brfritos 11:32, May 27, 2011 (UTC)

In theory, The Lever-Action shotgun would excel when combined with "cowboy","shotgun surgeon", and "and stay back". --24.253.217.254 22:34, May 30, 2011 (UTC)

It works fine, I wouldn't say it excels but it works fine - weak at longer ranges but fine up close or inside buildings. As for the grunt skill don't overlook the Tommygun, erg .45 SMG - spread is nasty, it goes through ammo like Michael Moore goes through a buffet, and you have to keep a repairman on speed dial BUT only mini-guns put bullets out faster and they don't hit as hard. With grunt and super ammo the .45 pistol is on par with the 12.7 for silenced pistols too, even a tad better and it is a holdout pistol which the 12.7 isn't.75.67.224.12 08:25, May 31, 2011 (UTC)
