also if for any reason "find a new location" would be the answer it is not an option, there are 188 locations in the mohave wastland. i have found 187, the legate's camp is the only one i havnt found yet. i was saving it until after i found the last area in the game(i only had 10 left when i decided that) uis it possible that finding all of these locations had anything to do with it?--[[User:Blakebutters|Blakebutters]] 23:30, February 12, 2011 (UTC)

I had the same problem on the PS3. Was lvl 35, had been at the bunker before installing Dead Money (did that at lvl 30), and left it until I had done all other quests except the final battles. When I went to the bunker, it was locked - key needed. When I first installed Dead Money, it gave me the "Go find the Sierra Madre source" window, but I ignored it.

I solved this by deleting both the DLC and the patch data. I could load the game as usual, only thing I got was a requester telling me that some items would not work as some were DLC exclusive. I went into the now unlocked bunker, got my Dean's Electronics, and saved inside. Installed both DLC and patch, and reloaded the game. This left me outside the bunker, still locked. I moped around for a few mins, then I got the same message as when I first installed the DLC: "Level cap is now 35, go find the source of Sierra Madre" etc. The bunker was now unlocked.

I hadn't found any DLC exclusive items, and I didn't choose and DLC exclusive perks, so I have no idea if you lose items or perks that are exclusive to Dead Money (or if they're just being "repressed" until the DLC is installed again).

  +
If I loaded a game that hadn't been "DLC cleaned" (a game that had not been loaded and saved with patch and DLC uninstalled), the bunker would still be locked.

'''So in short:''' Uninstall patch and DLC, load game, save (don't think you have to do it inside the bunker), reinstall DLC and patch, and reload game. Wat a minute or two and you should get the Sierra Madre popup, unlocking the bunker.

I have picked DLC exclusive perks, I got to lvl 35 right off the bat, like 5 hours in I was lvl 35, so I'd still have to redo 95 hours of stuff.... it freezes when i go to load without patches or the dlc, can I fix that?

I have all three DLC's (Xbox 360) and i tried deleting the patches and the DLC's but nothing is working. The Bunker still has that [Key Required] text and im getting frustrated with it. I happened to discover the location before Dead Money was released. I might be out of luck getting Jar of Cloud Residue or those Sierra Madre Chips. i had to start the quest for Sierra Madre by deleting the patch and DlC and it worked but now nothing seems to work. Any thoughts?

I think I managed to find either an answer or the answer for the bunker being locked and not letting you access it at all for the PS3. Keep your save game but delete both the game data and DLC data. Reinstall Fallout NV and install the latest patch. Then download and install all your DLC '''EXCEPT''' Dead Money. Because you have not traveled to the Sierra Madre yet you won’t lose any of your previously obtained DLC weapons or outfits. After finished reinstalling, load your last save and confirmed all your other DLC items are still with you, quit the game. Next download and install Dead Money. Load the game and walk around till you get the notification Dead Money has been loaded. Then go to the bunker and it should be unlocked. This worked for me on the PS3.

I had the same problem for the ps3 I got to the bunker and it was locked I deleted the update and could get in and started the Sierra madre then I went and found god/dog than the girl after that the ghoul, went back to the fountain but Elijah kept saying I had to find all three leaving me unable to proceed the DLC.to fix this entire mess I had to do it like this go to the bunker and wait an hour so it auto saves quit the game remove the game data (not the dlc's) the game with the patches wont see your DLC anyway, go in the bunker and save and quit again update the game than load and start Sierra madre now,if you don't update but start and find all three and go to the fountain Elijah will say you have to find all three even while they're all there, when that happens to me I tried to save and load but that just made the ghoul dean go back to the house he was found at refusing to follow you again so make sure that once your in the bunker or have started Sierra madre that you update, I know it sucks cause updating takes forever and it's already sucking enough that they did not fix this so you spend money on something and you have to go to a entire list of issues to finally play it but its still bethesda and all there games are full of annoying bugs that don't get fixed like they don't care...customer service doesn't mean anything to them but still they have awesome games...for me I finished dead money didn't like it that much anyway so I play new Vegas all the time but I will never go through so much trouble for dead money again it just ain't worth to play a second time..

The easiest way to get into the bunker if you are locked out (if you're on PC), is to open up the console and use the command "unlock". Then click on the abandoned bunker for the required reference point, and voila, you're in.

i made a new account a while ago. i put 97 hours into it so far. everything is perfect, but i cannot do dead money. i still have the sierra madre broadcast and the sierra madre grand opening! quest but when i go to the bunker it is locked and needs a key(well known to be nonexistant) can i unlock it or was all of this for nothing?

I'd try Un-Patching the game, load game save, get inside the bunker, save it, update it & continue with the story...--38.120.11.197 04:31, February 9, 2011 (UTC)

Here's how I solved it: I had the same problem on the PS3. When I went to the bunker, it was locked - key needed. When I first installed Dead Money, it gave me the "Go find the Sierra Madre source" window, but I ignored it.
