Hello, The Vault members and supporters! It has recently come to my attention that in the entire time Fallout 3 has been out, no one has yet attempted to legitimately kill Fawkes on Very Hard while at level 30 and display it to the public. Therefore, I have proposed the following: The first person to kill Fawkes will recieve the prestige of being the first person to defeat the gentle giant on the hardest possible settings. Don't think you can take the easy way out, though. There are some rules that must first be set.
1. Only console users will be considered legitimate, because computer users can easily use a console command before the video to weaken Fawkes or otherwise even the odds.
2. The fight must be 1 on 1. That means NO followers and NO other NPC's. To do so, I recommend an isolated area. Great places for this include some of the giant "plains" or "pits" that stretch out across the wasteland's hills in some of the more barren areas, the bridge near the Citadel, and your megaton house or tenpenny tower suite (after killing your servant).
3. No exploits. All items must be earned by yourself; Glitches or cheap tricks will result in denial of your accomplishment.
4. All weapons are permitted, except for the MIRV/Fat Man, all grenades and mines (except for the Cryo versions of both), paralyzing weapons, and the Mysterious Stranger's .44 Magnum.
5. All armor is permitted.
6. All aid items are permitted.
7. Paralyzing Palm and Nuclear Anomaly are not permitted (if you are not using melee attacks, Paralyzing Palm is OK).
8. All skill levels are permitted.
9. No modding!
10. Difficulty can never go lower than very hard between the time you start and the time you finish/lose to Fawkes.
11. All damaged must be done by yourself. You can't just drop him off a cliff or use the "No karma loss" killing method I posted in the exploits section.
12. You may use MULTIPLE weapons and sets of armor.
13. You MUST BE LEVEL 30! Failing to do so makes this pointless!
14. You must post the entire fight on youtube! Due to Youtube usually cutting out the last few seconds of a vid, it is encouraged that all participants in this contest overlap the recordings for all the videos used to show the fight.
- IMPORTANT* With the release of Fallout New Vegas on the horizon, it would be wise to complete this challenge before doing it becomes pointless due to no one caring or checking after that.

- No glitching is impossible if you have Ghoul Ecology and Superior Defender. Use a gatling laser and he'll be dead eventually. And NO FATMAN??? WTF??? Even 20 fatman rounds won't take him down... What about Anchorage weapons and armor since it never degrades?
- The "No degrading thing" is a complete lie. I saw my armor's value drop by one cap after about an hour of battle witihn anchorage. The same applies to weapons (I witnessed it as well). They aren't invincible, they just take a massive amount of time to degrade, but it still does so. Anchorage items are fine as well, because anyone well-suited enough for this challenge (me and anyone else with max med skill and over 1k stimpacks) knows that the hardest thing is to keep an eye on your health meter. If you can do that, it is quite easy (though long and tedious). I hope you are gonna participate in the challenge...George7777 01:13, August 15, 2010 (UTC)
- They still degrade EXTREMELY SLOWLY. And who cares if it goes down a few caps? All that matters is the damage and damage resistance (for guns and armor respectively). I never have to repair my Chinese Assault Rifle and my Winterized Combat Armor only needs to get repaired after it takes a SERIOUS beating.
- Back to the point, though. With Winterized Power Armor, max Damage Resistance, couple hundred stimpacks, and a Chinese Assault Rifle that does 96 damage and never degrades should get the job done eventually. 67.174.95.30 00:40, August 16, 2010 (UTC)
- Youre gonna need a lot more than that unless you plan on running around the whole time, which will make it even slower, considering shooting him anywhere other than the head will be a complete waste of time.204.228.23.203 17:08, August 19, 2010 (UTC)
