Remember no one fought face to face in the great war and it lasted just a few hours with nuclear weapons.

You got a taste of the great war if you played Operation anchorage.--FoA-Boneyard 22:37, November 25, 2011 (UTC)

you should add new content or a new game were you actually get to fight in the great war. in all the games characters talk abotu the great war, but you are realy never put in an actual war like senario, just saying it would be dope -TheWalrus

Well I'm not sure how much fighting you could do if you're front-line infantry in the middle of nuclear war. But it would be interesting if a game (not necessarily a Fallout game) had you trying to survive in the first hours of a nuclear war. --Fezgod 15:06, September 30, 2011 (UTC)

From memory I think the Great War only lasted roughly two hours and it was mostly a full blown exchange of nuclear strikes not some mother of all battles with thousands of grunts shooting at each other.

The best game to represent the great war would be the old arcade game Missile Command and for RP flavouring you can pretend your Mr house shooting down the incoming ICBM's targeted on Vegas.

DEFCON would be another one, though I'm not sure which Groups are firing off, the idea is the same, just total destruction of the world with little hope. 5t3v0 13:19, October 3, 2011 (UTC)

Um... what? They've finished making New Vegas. And all the Fallout games continue with the story of a post-apocalyptic America. Any Fallout game that actually goes back in time to the Great War, would ruin the feel of the history referenced to that time. The Great War is a "What if?" question: What if the world (or at least the US) was almost annihilated by neuclear fire? The games are points in time after, that answer that question (though only to create the setting and the lore). As dope as that might be, the game would not sell very well. If that game happens to be one of the main games (so like FO4) it'd probably just be the franchise's own undoing. Plus, all that arguing about who should own the rights to the Fallout series - or whatever - would be bad for the feuding companies. One last thing, the First and Second Battles of Hoover Dam are sort of like a war anyway. BTW, the games go: main game, side game, main game, side game, etc. --Tag! 03:20, October 4, 2011 (UTC)

So..... you want to fight in a war that lasted 2 hours and was purely nuke exchanges? You really think that would be fun? Aleksandr the Great 03:26, October 4, 2011 (UTC)

I think you mean you wish you could fight in the Resource Wars. If that is what you are talking about J.E Sawyer wants to make a game about it. I think if Bethesda keeps the rights after IPvsB, they should let them and I think Bethesda would let them if they like the idea of a game about it. User:Bamit11

Stephen King's new book 11-23-63 is due to come out this month where a man travels back in time to November 23rd, 1963, to stop the assassination of JFK. Upon returning to his future the world is enveloped in a radioactive cloud. He spends the remainder of the book traveling back in time to prevent himself from preventing the assassination while slowly dying of radiation poisoning... I know it has nothing to do with Fallout, but should be an interesting read! (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/31/books/stephen-kings-11-23-63-review.html)RoccoFinesse 18:47, November 2, 2011 (UTC)

Maybe a game where you fight in china instead if alaska. Another op anchorage except op Yangtze instead! Join the fight as a us marine and fight the Red Chinese army. I think someone at Bethesda wanted to make a game where you fight as the British army during the resource wars travelling back to England through war torn Europe. That would be a game i would rush to buy! --I like the noise my rifle makes "Carter190s" 18:54, November 2, 2011 (UTC) User:Carter190s

The story of Fallout is not about the great war. Its about what came next. Agent c 20:22, January 22, 2012 (UTC)

There is a game where you fight in the resource wars. It is called Fallout 3 (Operation Anchorage specifically). And there couldnt be a game where you "fight" in the great war because as is mentioned above, this wasnt a war that involved fighting.
And to Carter, the Americans never set foot in China if memory serves. FeckThisShyt 09:13, May 12, 2012 (UTC)
Oh never mind, had a look around and it turns out they did. Though I must say, if a resource wars game were to ever be made, seems more interesting to me to be about the Middle Eastern theatre. FeckThisShyt 09:38, May 12, 2012 (UTC)

Operation Anchorage at least gives you a limited taste of one moment from the Great war P.S. Also the aiding the outcast simulation ..

Operation Anchorage was not part of the Great War, it was what ultimately led to the Great War.

CupSaintPainThat was broke afore I got here. 19:27, May 20, 2012 (UTC)

Considering the Great War was a purely nuclear war that lasted 2 hours... You can play a couple of games that simulate it... They're called "Global Thermonuclear War" and "DEFCON"
