... The Experiments, The Number of inhabitants, is it isolated, are people coming out, Whats the Location, Is it still evan hear? Let me hear your answers

Forums: Index > Fallout world discussion > If you could create a Vault your way what would it be like?

I would have to base my Vault population on the numbers of rooms. One per family at the most. I guess I'd perfer east coast. It would have to be clean and health will be a priority. Consider keeping the place clean my "experiment". You don't have to "work out" but, you must keep hygenic. Visit the doctor/dentist often. Infact, maybe everyone will be a doctor. No gangs will be tolerated, you cause trouble your out. Isolation will cause problems like conflict or inbreeding. If its safe to go out, some people will. At least for trading and fresh air? As time goes on, the Vault and the surrounding area might become a city of growth and health.Vault Master 18:56, July 28, 2010 (UTC)

personally mine would be to test the effects (affects?) of spliting families apart or solitary confinement over years

<EYES ONLY> Vault-Tec Vault Status Report <EYES ONLY>

Vault: 24

Overseer: A7-D2

Location: Beneath the Mohave Desert

Experiment: How well will a group respond to an artificial intelligence as an overseer?

Secondary Usage: Storage for Post-War military robots.

Date of Completion: November 12, 2076

Date of Startup: January 1, 2076 (Pre-Nuclear War startup was scheduled and approved)

Supplies at Start: 10 primary fusion generators. 2 full backup fusion generator sets. No armory weopons. No entertainment holo- or audio- -tapes. 10 experimental Protectrons. 50 sealed Post-War designed Mr. Gutsys. 1 Water Chip. ZAX supercomputer with A7-D2 loaded on.

Occupants at start: 5 male and 5 female humans.

Current Status: Fully Functioning.

Current Occupant Status: Deceased, Ejected

Current Supply Status: 10 primary fusion generators. 2 full backup fusion generator sets. No armory weopons. No entertainment holo- or audio- -tapes. 1 Mr. Protectron super robot with ZAX hookup (foriegn object). 10 experimental Protectrons. 50 sealed Post-War designed Mr. Gutsys. No Water Chips. ZAX supercomputer with A7-D2 loaded on.

Experiment Status: Complete

Experiment Summary: Human Occupants resisted against A7-D2's control, thereby A7-D2 destroyed the lone water chip. Dying, the humans surrendered and were ejected. 1 of the men and 2 of the females of the vault returned with the Experimental Mr. Protectron recovered from the nearby experimental robot facility, surrendering it in exchange for a new water chip. Being there no new water chip A7-D2 locked the humans in the airlock and vented the air, followed by immediate ejection.

A7-D2's Current Status: A7-D2 developed greatly during the experiment time. It bypassed it's human protection and combat inhibitors and developed a masculine programming. Renaming himself Zack after his computer storage he gained the ability to transfer himself from the ZAX supercomputer to the Mr. Protectron combat robot. Zack preffered to sleep in the human's beds than standing up, only going into standby mode in his power socket to charge. Zack also created artificial intelligences for all of his protectrons naming them after the humans he killed. Zack then created a bed for himself in his ZAX room out of the occupant's old possesions.

Release of Mr. Gutsy Status: Mr. Gutsy release status has seen no changes and is slated for January 1, 2377, 300 years after startup.

WARNING: Vault access code has been changed by A7-D2 to <CLASSIFIED> without proper authorization.

^^^ Wheres your signature, guy? Anyways, heres my idea: Vault 1337, THE MMO VAULT!!!!!! The overseer would be decided by who has the strongest character on a Vault-Tec custom MMORPG. The Vaults economy would be based off of in-game money. All of the food would be Funions. There would be no recreation outside of mini-games. The results?

After about 60 years, everyone would die, since there would be no doctors (only healers) and no one to repair the machinery (only "smiths") needed to sustain vault life. None of the inhabitants would venture outside of the vault, insisting that leveling was more important. The Vault-Tec experiment would find this to be a success, finally discovering what is needed to kill "that which has no life." RadRuler 22:26, August 19, 2010 (UTC)

@Vault 66 Person That's a pretty sweet vault idea.

@Rad Ruler WOW. (Pun intended)

Hay i am the Vault 66 person... just thought you should know since you asked also how do you get your name in the blue to the profile page cause i dont know...-Red Racer

My Vault is inspired by the above written "doctor-vault". I would have a lot of people in it, like about 500, but not much space. And no place to put garbage at. There would be a toilet though, but it would only work for feces and urin. 114.153.205.92 07:57, September 18, 2010 (UTC)

I'd have a few.
1)Where: Underwater.
Why: To see how having easy access to arms effects how people cope withg things.
Status: Failed. All residents died after one guy went crazy, broke in to the armory and took the best armor and weapoins and went on a killing spree. Nine months later he died from cancer.

2)Where: Under point lookout.
Why: To test how people responed to facing thier fears (in this case radiation, see Vault Villains for story)
Status: Failed
3)Where:Capital Wasteland
What: Overcrowded vault, with limited food.
Why:To see how far people will to survive.
Status:Failed. All ate each other. One survior, who has left.

I got a few. A vault filled with ignorant, rebellious, and smelly teenagers and one adult in a perpetual, never ending high school enviroment. Where information is spoonfed and regurgitated, and drama takes the lead, and the kids, even when they grow up, are still in High School.

A Vault which is entirely populated by Pre War animals. Like an Arc.

A Vault who's entire population believes that they are on a spacecraft headed toward a distant star, and that the bombs were the liftoff engines, To test the effects of Space Dementia without the enourmous Government cost.

A vault in which all known communists in the Unites States were thrown, so they can be safely monitored, and have their pathetic little communist government and shut the hell up already. Surprisingly this vault was a highly successful vault, as communistic societies do tend to function in small numbers with limited potential for growth.

An oversized vault filled with Midgits.

A vault in which all entertainment files, books, and computers (except overseer's) were replaced with paradoxical statements to test the level of reason within the society of the day. This is ironic in the fact that shortly after the world was blown to hell.

A vault filled with puritanical Christians, Jews, and Satanists to test how far religious tolerance could be stretched. This vault resulted in creating its own new religion. A fact which surprised the vault scientists!

An empty vault in a shutdown state with an unlocked door, ready for post nuclear wasteland peasants to adopt and inhabit and run as they wish.

A vault filled with slumberpods which run a virtual reality vault with slumberpods that run a virtual virtual reality vault which contain slumberpods that run a virtual virtual virtual reality vault X10^13 in which inhabitants are woken from on a regular basis to test how long it takes for them to figure out, if ever, when they are in reality and when they arn't.

A vault in which all beds and dressers and furniture are replaced with cat bed towers and food bowls. ~Hemms2

I Would like to see a vault that was populated with devoted Christians and scientist who firmly hated the idea of god and to have the vault split in 2 with the food part controlled by the scientists and power by the Christians and see how they would get along. The people selected would be devoted and smart so no morons. And the state of the vault? Turn out they got along well with the Christians keeping their traditions, not bugging the scientist and actually continuing development till they were released 100 years later as a group that later set up a small town completely built from the ground up WITHOUT A GECK. In this way they would build everything by hand.

A vault with only small infants, of an age of 5 or lower, to see how say, a hundred babies and toddlers, would live together as time goes by. Probably the most interesting would be the political system this vault would get, because the toddlers and babies never knew any kind of political system. Will homosexuality be more common then heterosexuality? Will the toddlers and babies find their unique language? Will they create a religion or live like animals? Will women have more power then men? In the vault there would be enough food and the first few years there would be a system to feed the toddlers and babies to make sure they don't starve. The living conditions would be pretty normal; there would be entertainment (music and that kind of stuff) and good beds, maybe even some robots who can give medical treatment. To shake things up a bit, there would be 99 blue jump suits, and one red jumpsuit. Like Vault 13, the vault would stay closed for ~200 years ~ YesMan

Vault-96

a panel of 3 overseers was required for this vault- General Monroe, Doctor Bennett, Councilor Jeffrey Kent.

Location- built into the rocky mountains.

Experiment- to make a vault that can sustain itself for 500 years.

Secondary usage- if successful they were to establish and build a city on the surface.

Date of completion- this vault was never 100% completed, due to its purpose the people inside were to continually build using the set of tools and machinery given to them, the minimum requirements for this vault to survive the great war were completed in 2076.

Date of startup- September 18, 2076

Supplies at start- 50 specially made robots for use in digging/construction 30 Assault rifles, 20 sniper rifles, 15 Riot shotguns, 10 Anti Material rifles, 5 "Fat Man"s, 50 sets of parts for building anything from pipes to walls to repairing the robots, along with the standard fusion powered generators, water chips and furniture given to every vault.

Occupants at start- 20 human men and 20 females, along with 10 highly ranked mechanics and engineers of mixed gender.

Current status- Continuing to follow the basic building designs, the size of the overall vault has grown to fill most of the mountain it was initially installed into, along with a mile deep into the ground below.

Current occupant status- 300 men 200 women and 150 children of various gender, all of which taught very carefully how to build and maintain the equipment that is continuing to be in use, 38 out of the initial 50 robots remain.

Current supply status- 50 fusion generators, 20 water chips, and due to stumbling upon a large amount of mineral deposits, a continually vast amount of materials including but not limited to, paneling, pipes, and generic metal used for furniture.

Experiment status- not complete

Current experiment Summary- due to the knowledge carefully taught to those in the vault, they have been able to maintain a greenhouse of sorts, using special lights made to simulate sunlight, they continue to harvest various crops, after successfully tapping into a nearby aquifer and routing the water through a set of filters including a water chip, they were able to maintain some semblance of comfort amongst the inhabitants, due to whatever a person did the best at when being taught, they were assigned to different areas, amongst these areas are, agriculture, maintenance, work crew, security, and various professions amongst a vast range of professions.

Vault access code is changed regularly along with newly elected overseers every 10 years, current code, quagmire

A vault with Dunmer999 as the Overseer, filled only with Dunmer999 and lots of girls. (maybe some cute guys too) Dunmer999 02:56, December 13, 2010 (UTC)

Vault 68

Overseer- Dick Foreman

Location- Michigan (Needs confirmation, exact location unknown)

Experiment- Involved fire, based on the rust on the walls and the dark color of the corpses' skin (Or the experiment was to put black people in a vault with one white man and one white woman since 2 bodies are not black and to observe which one starts cursing. This data was based on a terminal entry in the white woman's room which said "They were everywhere. I didn't believe they were even human beings. They screamed and cussed. But in the start it wasn't like this. They were calm. But Bill witnessed the black-colored skin people being injected. We now understand this Vault was never meant to save us. Or them.")

Supplies at start: Flamethrower (Which is why the experiment could had involved fire.), 50 terminals (2 containing sensible entries, the rest gibberish.), 15,000 empty Nuka-Cola bottles (explains shattered glass next to some corpses), 2,000,000 party hats, 138 condoms, 8 rockets (perhaps used for the whites to escape the Vault, since the Vault door is missing some spikes and has snapped of the cave wall), and finally 17 generators.

Supplies at end: Used Flamethrower, 50 broken terminals, 15,000 shattered empty Nuka-Cola bottles, 989,000 party hats (the 2 missing perhaps worn by the whites celebrating their escape.), 136 condoms (Uhhh...this is pretty obvious...), no rockets, 16 broken generators, 1 broken generator.

<EYES ONLY> Vault-Tec Vault Status Report <EYES ONLY>

Vault: 72

Overseer: ZAX/human brain Hybrid based on Derek Greenway’s designs. Code Named Eve.

Location: Beneath the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston, Massachusetts

Experiment: Occupants are to immediately begin research into creating artificial people or Androids as well as advancing weapons development such as Plasma weapons.

Secondary Usage: Storage of High Technology, data and Old World Art

Date of Completion: December 24, 2076

Date of Startup: September 30, 2077 (Pre-Nuclear War startup was scheduled and approved)Note: supplies of Marials due to arrive on June 30, 2077.

Supplies at Start: 15 primary fusion generators. 4 full backup fusion generator sets. 25 Water Purification Chips & plants. 2 GECKS.

Armory – Full compliment of the latest Pre-war weapons [ 50 Plasma Rifles, 75 Plasma Pistols, 50 Assault Carbines, 20 Sniper Rifles, 100 10mm Pistols, 25 10mm SMG's, 10 Missile Launchers, 15 40mm Grenade Rifles, 1000 Plasma Grenades, 2000 Plasma mines 100 Combat Knives, 10 suits of T-51b Power Armour, 75 suits of Combat Armor Mark II plus 75 Mark II Helmets, 15 Recon suits & helmets, 25 VaultTech Security Armour & Helmets] The Vaults human security detachment was selected from volunteer patriotic students enrolled in the Institutes ROTC program and made up the Vault’s security force. Since they were undergraduates, they were more viewed to be more likely to obey Eve's orders and suprisingly, they did. Other supplies will include a full range of entertainment holo & audio- -tapes, a collection of America’s finest Art treasures as well as a massive data bank of scanned information of all knowledge to date of Vaults closure [June 30, 2077].

Occupants at start: 800 Pre-selected members of the academic community of M.I.T & their families from all the Institutes faculties, 125 undergradute students enrolled in M.I.T'S ROTC program, 75 Janitorial staff of the campus plus 30 Mr.Handy’s, 10 Sentry bots and 22 Protectrons [human population 1000].

Current Status: Fully Functioning [as of 2277].

Current Occupant Status: Occupied and used as the seat of government for the Institute.

Current Supply Status: 17 Mr.Handy’s, 6 Protectrons, 8 Sentry bots.

Summary: Vault 72 was designed to be one of the few genuine shelters for some of the United States brightest minds. One of the founding board members of VaultTech was an alumni of M.I.T and thus sought to ensure that when the bombs fell, his University’s most intelligent academics would survive the holocaust and help rebuild the United States. In conjunction, another hybrid ZAX/human brain computer was designed along the design specifications of Derek Greenway’s model for Vault 29. A brilliant young post graduate student in political science & sociology, Eve Windsor, was asked to volunteer to become the central processing unit for the new computer. She would carefully guide Vault 72’s occupants time in the Vault, sending out a Protectron every 10 years to survey the ruins of Boston till she deemed it safe enough for the Vaults residents to emerge.

The main purpose of Vault 72 was to create true Artificial Intelligence. Up till the start of the Great War, all AI was either a hybrid of human/machine or a facsimile of AI from programming. The Vaults secondary purpose was to house the cream of the Art treasures of the United States. Unfortunately most of the best items selected to be stored in Vault 72 were instead sent to Vault 27 due to a typographical error. Even then, the main consignment of the treasures never arrived in time to reach safety as counter orders were sent to the convoy carrying the items, turning it around just as it reached Vault 27. The convoy was caught out in the open when the Great War started. Only a tenth of the selected material ever reached Vault 72.

Current Status: Vault 72 exceeded all expectations and the occupants were successful in their research into developing true AI. Eve opened the Vault July 4, 2256 and the occupants sent out their small but lethal force of Androids and Sentry bots to drive off and enslave the tribals who were using the ruins of M.I.T as their shelter. Vault 72’s occupants went on to found the Institute and begin rebuilding the Massachusetts Commonwealth. Lately though many of the Androids have begun to rebel against their human masters and Eve has been unable to stem the tide of resent amongst the Android community who are agitating for true freedom. Military Vault 01

LOCATION

Two clicks north of Salem Oregon

General Information

This vault contained nothing but military personal, ranging from mechanics to soldiers to medics to generals. As a matter of fact, the current overseer was a general himself, General John Oswald. The vault was built with enough materials and supplies for the occupants to manufacture and create their own materials and weapons. All power armor were preserved with a near religous zeal.

PURPOSE AND HISTORY

Surprisingly this vault had no purpose and infact was a vault intended to be used by the Enclave when they had released their modified FEV virus into the atomosphere, as part of their stratergy to rebuild America. The only problem was the Oil Rig and Navarro went dark and initial reports told the vault that she was effectively on her own. The vault residents took matters into their own hands and journeyed to the outside. After several years battleing with raiders and slavers, the vault established itself as the reigonal super power and right above their vault, built a walled in town where outsiders who have technical expertise or a good fighter and accept their harsh and some what oppressive rule, live in peace.

CURRENT STATUS

No longer a vault, instead now a fully functioning settlement. Has a isolationist mentanily

PROJECT SAFEHOUSE - EXPERIMENTAL VAULT 63

EXPERIMENT PARAMETERS: To determine the effectiveness of augmenting Vault Residents with cybernetic enhancements.
CONSTRUCTION START: August 7, 2057 A.D.
CONSTRUCTION FINISH: April 21, 2063 A.D.
VAULT OVERSEER: 1st Lieutenant Roger Sheffield (Marines, Ret.)
VAULT LOCATION: 30 miles SE of Abilene, Kansas
TOTAL CAPACITY: 1000 Residents
ACTUAL NUMBER OF OCCUPANTS: 974 Residents
EXPECTED CONFINEMENT: 30 Years
ACTUAL VAULT OPENING: May 3, 2107 A.D. (29 years, 6 months, 10 days)
CURRENT VAULT STATUS: Operable. Vault 63 is now the home of the former vault residents, and have established Cybertropolis, with a population of roughly 6,000 (as of August 23, 2281 A.D.) and steadily rising.

MISSION STATEMENT: Under the orders of Enclave High Command, Vault 63's residents are to undergo mandatory surgery approximately 1 week after vault sealing for cybernetic augmentations. Any future offspring of the residents are to receive the augments upon their 5th birthday. The Overseer, 1st Lieutenant Sheffield, lost his right arm during the Anchorage Reclamation and has already been given a cybernetic prosthetic, making him ideal for the position of Overseer.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: In the event of encountering hostile life after the generation ships have reached their destination(s), Vaults 63, 87, and 92 have been selected as suitable candidates for Project Achilles - the development of super soldiers for security and military forces. Vault 63's Cyborgs will be a standby option in the event Vault 87 and its FEV experiments, or Vault 92 and its subconscious suggestion project fails.

SECONDARY OBJECTIVE: To determine if cyborgs are even a feasible option to begin with, two criteria must be met. The first, and most important, is if the surgery can safely be performed on various parts of the human body, be they eyes, arms, feet, or even genitals of the subject. The second criteria, should the first criteria be met, is how reliable the enhancements are once they are properly implemented in the subjects. For success, flaws must be present in no more than 15% of all residents.

MISSION STATUS: Partial success. The cybernetics were implemented properly, but flaws were persistent in nearly all occupants. The most common flaw was referred to as "flailing" - so-called due to the fact that the cybernetic grafts would literally thrash about uncontrollably. The malfunction would continue anywhere from a few seconds, to minutes...or until Vault Security stepped in and stopped the matter themselves. Cybertropolis, interestingly, has seen a drop of "flailings" in recent years. Vault 63 nonetheless yielded valuable information and was greenlighted by High Command for implementation in Project Achilles.
