After progressing to Level 9 with a new build character I was getting progressively more and more hacked off with having to leave behind a series of locked computers, safes & cupboards due to a lack of skill. Likewise I wasn't exactly overjoyed at having to run away in quite a lot of combat situations due to being underskilled and under-equipped.

Now if only my Fall Out 3 character could be the one exploring the New Vegas area....

Well why not?

So back in the DC Wasteland I happened to be enjoying some chat in the Citadel when Elder Lyons proposed a new mission:

Disturbing reports of an Enclave resurgence and powerful new factions emerging to threaten the peace in the West require investigation.

A low level Brotherhood operative, masquerading as a courier was recently killed whilst investigating and reporting back on this problem. The Brotherhood out west have requested assistance from us and the only asset available that is upto the job is the you, the Lone Wanderer. Having established your cover by progressing to Level 9 unassisted you will receive by Vertibird airlift all your essential equipment and supplies from the wasteland. You will also be granted your essential SPECIAL, SKIlls & PERKS.

OK so I spent an hour cheating and replicated my FO3 character into the New Vegas scenario.

But it feels good and so far hasn't spoilt anything for me.

No more running away from Deathclaws!!

Huge cheat. There's a reason Obsidian made the changes they did, FO3 was far too easy and shallow. Also, shame on you for taking orders from the Brotherhood of Fail. Schneidend 18:26, October 29, 2010 (UTC)

Brotherhood of Fail! lol Really I agree but I don't have as much time as I used to to play. Still I'm having fun :) Fall Out 3 Shallow?

Oh I did up the ante and set it to Very Hard / Hardcore.

Obsidian already left your background up to you, unlike previous Fallout games there is no mention of where you originated from and enough years have passed since Fallout 3 that you could have made the trip to the Mohave for whatever reason. Add the brain trauma from being shot in the head and you can easily take the Planescape: Torment route and claim that your not so much learning new skills but remembering the knowledge you had lost. I had no trouble recreating my Fallout 3 character under that criteria.

And yeah, Fallout 3 was stupid easy compared to New Vegas. Especially if you took certain perks and already knew where to find all the bobbleheads and skill books. Plus being able to kill a Deathclaw at level 2 in my first playthrough didn't feel right.
