:I restored Gears for now. It is usual wiki practice to make articles in singular, and was probably redirected for this reason. But there are two different misc items, one named "Gear" and producing steel, the other named "Gears" and being primarily a crafting component. I guess the issue becomes clearer once we have images for both items. --Alfwyn (talk) 17:37, November 26, 2015 (UTC)

:::And just some info about the general mechanism here. There are crafting resources, those are shown as the requirement when crafting stuff and when examining items. These are purely virtual and no item. However there is for each a misc item usually by the same name that provides one of that crafting resource. It often has the look of a box and is left over by scrapping stuff. Now since usually the name is the same, we have just one page for those two different concepts. It just happens in this case that there is a small difference in the name and a clash with another misc item. --Alfwyn (talk) 18:30, November 26, 2015 (UTC)

What happened to the 'gears' page?

There used to be a page for 'gears' the F4 crafting component, and one for 'gear' the F4 loot item that you can break down into steel. Now the 'gears' page is gone, and 'gears' redirects to 'gear'.

Is there a way to restore the 'gears' page?

I restored Gears for now.
Digging a bit further in the history, "Gears" was redirected to "Gear" at a time when both pages had nearly identical content, it was only later that "Gear" was changed to the steel producing item. --Alfwyn (talk) 17:51, November 26, 2015 (UTC)
But perhaps we are better served by a disambiguation page here. Anyway, the crafting component is called "Gears", but examining the item says it will produce "Gear". The same with other items producing it. Nevertheless, a "Gears" item is produced by scrapping stuff. It is an internal naming inconsistency here. --Alfwyn (talk) 18:15, November 26, 2015 (UTC)
And just some info about the general mechanism here.
