Hey guys, don't laugh at me or anything please, but I really love Fallout. Like, a lot :P so anyway I was wondering if anyone had any advice on writing a book based on the series. I know, I know it sounds dumb but I'd just like to try it and see what I get. I was thinking start small and see how it goes. Any advice is appreciated :D
I dont think its a dumb idea the fallout universe is massive with plenty of scope for a story. The thing is where to start fallout 3 would be a good one because it has the potential to do cradle to grave, vault to purifier and do the side quests as chapters.You could start out from 101 all young and idealistic with your time in the wasteland turning you more jaded and self serving as the story progressed, with the character realising there is no hope or compassion with it all around them but they cant see it destroying any hope for redemption. I have been working on my own set of short stories based in the Fallout universe. My advice is, figure out whether or not you want your work to be from the games directly, from unexplained storylines in the games, or just in the universe and not based in the games at all (like my stuff). Trust me, writing from the games themselves is NOT as easy as you would think it would be. The fact that you have a silent protagonist fucks up the writing process pretty well. I suggest fleshing out a character that you met in the games. I wrote a couple of stories on that model, and they turned out pretty well. I'll probably post my stories on here a bit at a time, so when I do you can get an idea of what I did. Hope this helps. ATCaver 21:23, March 16, 2012 (UTC)
