Just so everyone can have an example, I have made how Marcus's page would look under this system (here). I would also suggest that we note what emotion the images represent as a caption (I would have done that here, but I wasn't sure what http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Forum:Fallout_1_%26_2_Image_Quote_Removalemotion was what). 03:57, August 19, 2014 (UTC)

As I see it, the quotes for reactions are purely aesthetical. It is not really needed, and if it shows a difference in reaction, one could hear the tone instead. So yeah, if there is not much opposition, the quotes could be moved to Notable Quotes section. <font size=3px><span style="border: 2px solid firebrick; background-color: azure; white-space: nowrap; ">Energy X</span></font> 21:43, August 19, 2014 (UTC)

Wouldn't it just make more sense to just make it a vid? I mean, the picture made sense before the audio player part. But now it just seems kinda silly to show stills from a video, and have the audio. ::It sounds like a cool concept... but, I think it would be best to stick to text and audio for a few reasons. The biggest being accessibly, it's easier to view and navigate the quotes in a text/audio format and will be easier to exactly what is being said. You can have the text in the video, but you lose the ability to copy and paste any of it. Listing out video times wouldn't be very attractive and I can't really think of a space-saving way to list out the quotes if they end up in the same video. Having one quote per video will leave the quotes section just as cluttered, which will kinda defeat the purpose of this forum. An interesting idea, but I think it'll lose too much functionality for it to be worthwhile. -- <font color= "#9273d0"> Watch in awe! </font> 21:37, August 24, 2014 (UTC)

::::: Maybe I just misunderstood the issue. I thought the problem was that multiple images were being used to show facial expression for different parts of the same dialogue. If I am mistaken, then just ignore my rambling - and I agree it should just be done as the "notable quotes". On a side note, is there any way of getting an audio player that doesn't have a progress "floater"? Y'know, something like a "click to play, click to stop?" Because something like that would seem to work much better in an "in-line" layout, especially for 2-3 second dialogue files. Forums: Index > Wiki discussion > Fallout 1 & 2 Image Quote Removal

For NCR here, proposing an idea to remove the FO1-2 image quotes from the Notable Quote sections and replace them within the gallery of the page.

Improvement

Forum image Quotes 2

As you can see by this example, Marcus has his reaction images constantly appearing throughout his page to show you what face he expresses when speaking said quote in-game. As you can also see, this image is repeated very often for his other quotes, only for the sake of what he looks like under dialogue.

Marcus isn't the only one. Throughout all the pages that feature Fallout's 1 and 2's signature "talking heads", this continuous repeating of images is used, making the page bulkier than what it could and should be.

The question I wish for you to answer is:

1. Do we need to see every reaction despite it taking up unneeded room per page?

2. Couldn't we just post these reaction images inside the page's Gallery?

Forum image quotes

I propose that we aim to make our Fallout 1&2 quotes appear more akin to our current method, which we apply in our Fallout 3 and New Vegas pages, as seen above.

Don't worry, we will still be able to view the reaction images, but it will merely be moved to the Gallery along side with other images. User ncr A Safe People is a Strong People! 03:36, August 19, 2014 (UTC)

Discussion

I agree. It would look better to have the FO1/FO2 notable quotes look like the FO3/NV ones as it makes the page tidier. Moving the emotion images to the gallery means that we can still see what their emotions look like without cluttering up the page. Slims down the page and makes it more in line with the newer pages, there's barely a difference in the reaction images (even less when they are scaled down on the page). So, I think it would be best to switch over to text only. -- MHsig Watch in awe! 03:08, August 22, 2014 (UTC)

It sounds like a cool concept... but, I think it would be best to stick to text and audio for a few reasons. The biggest being accessibly, it's easier to view and navigate the quotes in a text/audio format and will be easier to know exactly what is being said. You can have the text in the video, but you lose the ability to copy and paste any of it.
