Ratslayer ! FTW. 5X critical multiplier means with 10 luck, Finesse and Boone's beret every shot is a critical. 5 different types of ammo. Easy repair with the varmint rifle. I've brought down Deathclaw's with it. It's not good in VATS and it's not a "Oh shit, they're on me" weapon but it keeps going out with me while other rifle's stay home. Well the earliest two guns with scopes you can get would be:
- 9mm pistol (Fallout: New Vegas) w/ Scope Mod
- Varmint rifle w/ Scope Mod
Then as you progress you can get:
- Ratslayer
- Hunting rifle (Fallout: New Vegas) w/ Scope Mod
- .44 magnum revolver (Fallout: New Vegas) w/ Scope Mod
Finally, there's later game snipers
