Anyone had Doc Hoff Randomly die and then have just his body and not his caravan fall to the ground when you spawn after fast traveling?

In my save, Doc Hoff was randomly killed and i found his body near Rivet City. I loot his body for a key and i later found his

animal stationed outside Paradise Falls. I therefore could take all his inventories.
