Forums: Index > Fallout 3 general discussion > Can't find dogmeat

Hello everyone, I went to the scrap yard and found the raiders but no dogmeat! Is there something special I have to do to find him? Or will he show up later in the game?

Thanks ZappsZapper

Sounds like a glitch. Look up the console command for spawning Dogmeat if you're on the computer, or load an earlier save. If neither of those work, you might have to start over if you really want to get him. --Toast 16:05, November 24, 2009 (UTC)

From Dogmeat's page...

"If the player reaches the Scrapyard and does not enter it, or somehow manages to pass by and trigger the event without speaking to Dogmeat, it is still possible to encounter him later in a random encounter. He will sometimes come to your aid when you are facing overwhelming odds, such as a larger group of Talon Company Mercs in the wasteland, or the Enclave, such as at the Mobile Base Crawler. If during your travels you see the words "Dogmeat is unconscious" appear at the top of the screen, it means he is nearby somewhere and is likely being attacked. Dogmeat cannot die before you have recruited him." LVTDUDE 00:40, November 25, 2009 (UTC)

Thank you Toast and LVIDUDE!

I'm not sure how you use the console commands, I'm using the PC version of fallout 3! Could someone help me with this?

Thanks ZappzZapper

Well, first of all you need to look up the right console commands for summoning Dogmeat, so search on this wiki for "Console" and that should do. In game, you press the "~" key, which is around the area below the ESC key. That will open the console, then all you have to do is type in the console command that you wish. --Toast 16:10, November 25, 2009 (UTC)

Thanks Toast I will give it a try!!
