My fellow Nukapedians,
Well, here it is then, my request to be promoted from admin to bureaucrat. Some of you have asked me about my plans for it, of course I could only apply if I felt I was ready for it. And now I think I am.
This request might not have come if we hadn’t come to a split with the three Vault bureaucrats still being here. I was happy enough being an admin. But you all know what happened in November when we were left without leadership. Luckily Kingclyde stepped up to fill that role.
For me, and I think for many, the split came as an unpleasant surprise. I really couldn't find myself in the arguments given for The Vault to move. Some minor issues, but certainly not enough reason to leave Wikia. But nevertheless it happened. And due to my editcount and spent time here I was unwillingly put in the spotlights at the time. I could have made this request then, but I clearly wasn’t ready for it. I needed time to accept the split and grow to a leadershiprole.
It was a blow in November and I was left demotivated for a few weeks. I still was here, but the fun of it all had pretty much gone. Didn't too much editing, but of one thing I was determined: no one was going take advantage of our vulnerability and hurt this wiki. Me and Scarface were the only active admins left and speaking for myself, I checked just about every edit to make sure it stayed at least intact. And I've continued doing that till halfway through January, after which we got some more help.
The above to show I especially care for this wiki, I think in a degree that is fitting for a bureaucrat. It's become a bit of a second home to me. Convert my editcount to an 1 edit a minute and I will have spent 1100 hours here in 15 months. Of course, I couldn't have done it without the other factor, love for the game.
Getting back to the past 2 months, like I said I had to get accustomed to a new role, like more of you. At least, that has been my experience. This split had a downside, but I feel it has also been a refresher, a chance for new people to rise to stardom. I was happy to see members like SD, TB en MS become very edit-active in December, even during Christmas. I liked seeing their devotion, similar to mine. And more people found their (new) place, like Agent c with the news digests and others who continue keeping this wiki alive with user-interest blogs like the SNM and polls.
At the start of the year our talented Leon became very active, and he was the first one to apply for adminship since the split. It was the start of a series of adminship requests and a definite change for the positive again. This was I believe about the time I started to become ready for bureaucratship. With the new name/logo issue behind us (that was really holding us up) and several new people to help me in taking care of this wiki, I saw that it was here to stay, growing healthy again and found time for myself, and could grow into making the final step.
And now I'm confident enough to take on a bureaucratship role. Another factor is that Kingclyde isn’t very active and it would be convenient to have a bureaucrat who is, and also someone who's more aware on what's going on on the wiki. And it's a bit of a personal view, but now I think we have the admins (with a few more coming) to go with another bureaucrat. And I spend a lot of time here, so part of it can be spent on more executive matters.
That's about it I think. My request has become a bit of an essay, but it feels right for me. About my accomplishments, here is a link to my adminship request and there you'll see I've done a lot of work on images, one of the things I like best doing here. Also still doing a lot of work on maintenance and wanted pages. Target is clearing that and also planning on getting rid of stubs. And I want to see if we can do something about having no CSS/JS programmers.
There should have been a list of this user's edit counts here, but the edit counts feature is no longer available. |

Here's the way I see it:
- You are dedicated to this wiki on a constant basis and I can safely assume you make more daily (quality) edits than anyone else here.
- If I've ever needed a quality picture? You've always been the man to ask, and you most certainly bring results to the table.
- Even when demoralized after the split, you stayed and dedicated yourself to restoring this wiki from the ashes. While we are still not whole, you are the reason why we still have a (thriving?) community here and for making sure trolls haven't run rampant. A lesser wiki without your kind of guidance after such a split would have fallen into disrepair for the wikia staff to eventually clean up.
- You make the tough decisions when they are needed, even when it makes you unpopular with parts of the community.
- It seems to me that you genuinely care and love for this wiki. Your loyalty is unshakable and you can always be depended on for anything wiki related.
- I'm sure I could come up with more, but I'm sleep deprived and I'd rather not bore everyone to tears with any further walls of text. :') All in all? You've had my confidence in you having this position for a very long time now. I fully expect you to lead this wiki back to its former glory! With the help of your new Admins and mods of course. ;) Skål!
@Shurrender What kind of behaviour are you talking about? Spoelstra is barely ever in chat. Anyway, I don't think your vote will make too big of an impact, but your opinion counts. -ΣΔLet's talk! 01:41, February 19, 2012 (UTC)
- I think what he meant is that people talk bad about him in chat. Either way, that's their own personal problem and chat issues should not let their influence present itself in an application for an editor at heart who's never even really in chat just because they don't personally approve of his attitude. Skål! 01:44, February 19, 2012 (UTC)
- I have to say that despite being in chat almost everyday I haven't seen any of that. Unless he's talking about referring to Jspoel as the ZAX Unit, but that's actually a compliment to him somehow being always making edits, not badmouthing. Limmiegirl Talk! ♪ 02:03, February 19, 2012 (UTC)
- You're more than likely right, Limmie. I've never seen anyone bad-mouthing him in chat either and I have a feeling this Shurrender is just being antagonistic. Skål! 02:06, February 19, 2012 (UTC)

I am pleased to announce that we have a new bureaucrat! Congrats.--Kingclyde 05:19, February 19, 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for having put your trust in me, I'll do my best to live up to it! About the no vote, I always wondered if I was being talked about in chat, and appearantly I am. I know I'm not the most popular guy around here, as I don't 'join the fun', involving myself with community-popular things the SNM, polls and chat. I could show myself a bit more there, but I feel much more compelled to spend my efforts editing and 'make this wiki the best one around' as quoted on my profile. And that's not achieved by spending my time in chat. We get the amount of traffic and ranking (#3 again!) by adding and updating content and that will remain my main priority here (and I hope others join me). Jspoel 16:35, February 19, 2012 (UTC)
