Hi everyone, I have finally decided it is time to run for admin.

Introduction[]

I have been an active editor since late 2016, gradually becoming part of the regular group in Chat, whilst not slowing down on the wiki side with the edits. My starting point was a single image on the General Atomics Galleria in February 2016 and my activity picked up from there. My early focus was on the Fallout 4 settlement objects project and picking up the more unloved Fallout 4 junk items, which had been in need of some serious tlc.

Although it may feel early in my tenure to to be making a request, unless I had reasons to apply now rather than later I would do so at a later date. My 3 main reasons for choosing now:

  1. We are currently moving into exam season, which is going to limit the time of at least 2 of our more active administrators while they focus on their studies.
  2. We have been limited in cover in chat as of recent and temp mod chat bans I have issued have been extended to the wiki.
  3. Bureaucrat Jspoel has been suggesting that I consider running, his Endorsement can be seen below.
There should have been a list of this user's edit counts here, but the edit counts feature is no longer available.

Technical and achievements[]

Not all of the work I have done on the wiki has been article side. I am versed in the way of the GEck and the Creation kit and have been asked to complete checks in both, plus given guideance on locating information. As my edit count demonstrates, I do spend time working with the templates, including technical work with the Infobox quest and Infobox world object templates to add additional requirements and switches.

Additionally I have hardcoded the sound files which appear below the Quotation template as a means of eliminate the NaNxPx issue created by visual editor. I have been replacing them slowly, where other changes need to be made as there is no urgency on this replacement

I am also versed in CSS, SQL and HTML of which the former of the three has been useful in rapidly generating templates content for dialogue, be it dialogue exports or inline quotes for Jacki to pick over later. Although I don't own a bot, I do have the means of partially replicating the work.

I have also assisted over at the Merchants RPG wiki, setting up and styling their infoboxes to suit their needs, something I will be able to support in over here with administrative rights.

Where chat is concerned I have been a temporary mod on multiple occasions, either by request when issues arise or by general need for cover. Per rules all chat bans I have issued have been screenshotted.

Achievements[]

Returning back to wiki-side my biggest achievements included the cleanup of Power armor (Fallout 4) and Power armor frame, which had crossed over information, the full layout of Fort Strong, Fort Strong armory and most recently Cambridge Police Station. I also know my limits and as such had to ask for assistance with the Museum of Freedom as I am physically incapable of recording audio (due to a lack of stereo mixer on my motherboard), to pull the demonstration audio onto the article.

I am also responsible for the wide-screen shots of the Musuem of Freedom Anchorage mural and view from the mayor's office. Additionally, the majority of the images on the fully mapped locations above were also taken and uploaded by myself.

I have also spent a lot of time doing the referencing across the wiki, two of the biggest jobs being Lanius and ArcJet Systems.

Endorsement[]

Although not a requirement for adminship, I have asked Jspoel to endorse this request, as the bureaucrat who asked me to consider running.

I strongly support this request, which I already hinted to in the previous adminship request. Sakaratte has listed his qualities and achievements above, and the more active users will have seen this. As a very active user myself, I've seen his progress go fast, and already considered him becoming admin after a month of patrollership. Patiently biding his time, Sakaratte now applies, and I consider him to be one of the best candidates in years, especially due to his constant activity and shown maturity, in the articles and also in chat. He's been active all around; our wiki can greatly benefit giving him added tools, to make his work here easier and make our wiki safer as well. Besides that, we lack edit-active admins, and he certainly would fit in that department. I'm glad to have such an active user around, with a great future here. I hope you'll see it like this as well. Im a casual editor but, even if i dont give a (positive, negative or neutral) vote, i am interested, i dont feel that i should vote, because i am a very casual contributor.

but since i saw the notification and read your request, i feel that i should at least comment what

Seeing that some current fallout wiki high end staff already voted (and positive), i just have a comment to make. its not in particular about the past/current actions/contributions or skills level of the user (User:Sakaratte) making the request. But about the reasons for the particular rank requested.

Why Administrator? and not other higher or lower user privilege group? lets say moderator for example. What permissions/powers do you require that can only be done by admin rank (or higher) and not a, lets say, moderator or other "user group rank"

I saw you are currently patroller, so out of my ignorance i belive the next logical step is moderator. I am sure the content of the wiki will benefit from more staf doing contributions. I am not saying that you dont deserve or should be admin or a higher user, but just could not figure out why admin I am sure this is about the user group on the wiki and not just the chat, (dont know if there is separate user groups at the chat or not, i have never been on the chat)

So this is my comment on your request (that i am sure you will achieve) Excuse my english skills, Please dont take my comment as a negative one. because it isnt. I wish you Good luck and i hope your very valuable contribution keep making the fallout wiki a the best one.--Holakc (talk) 12:10, June 7, 2017 (UTC)

It is a fair question and if I am honest it is something that I took a while to consider myself. Jspoel's requests to connect sider admin were what made me decide on this route over others. When it comes to rights and which route to go, their isn't really much in the way of linear progression on the wiki itself, unlike others where the content moderator mid-point exists.
My first consideration was a slower progression by taking up the mantle of chat moderator first (which in turn would make me a moderator). I am active both there and on the wiki itself, but my primary interaction is on the wikiside itself. Here I would have more impact, especially with the exam season as our two European admins are going to be tied up with real life more for the next month or so, leaving our active bcrat to pick up the bulk of wiki maintenance.
Of all the admin tools available the one I have the biggest interest in is the multiple upload tool. I do upload images in bulk at times and the time savings involved in batch uploading would be good to have, just so I can move on to other tasks. I also have CSS ability so I can maintain the CSS when required as well.
The only other roles that we have that I could have considered are discussions moderator (a place I don't go to for the most part, this would have meant moving away for working on the wiki too), or the bureaucrat which frankly I don't feel I have the ability to do at this point in time.
Apologies if I haven't covered everything in my response here. I am currently replying from my phone, so seeing everything is a little difficult. Sakaratte - Talk to the cat 17:00, June 7, 2017 (UTC)

His actions and activiveness on the chat even if it's dead for the night is undeniable.

He'll make a great mod. --drop a line if you want to talk to me here 12:32, June 7, 2017 (UTC)
