Forums: Index > Fallout 3 general discussion > A story about Detroit

I've noticed there isn't much about Michigan in the fallout universe, the only mention of anything that could be based in Michigan is the abbey of the road but its not confirmed...

I wanted to write a few stories about my home town in post-apocalyptia (sic) so here's a story. (also i'm new here so can people give me pointers on different things? for instance like how do i post my name with a link at the end of my post like i see some people do?)

The Great Detroit Tribe (also know as the Great Detroit Nation) was a large group of "tribal" people that banded together in order to help each other survive. Originally they were different groups of raiders locked in gruesome war over territory in an area known as War Zone; what would now be Southwest Detroit . Among the Gangs were: The Gorilla Tribe, the Goonies, the Wolf Pack, the Rock Tribe, the Dawg Tribe, the Death clan, the Vixens, the Amazons, the Cat Clan, and many more spread across the desolate region. After countless casualties and damages sustained over the course of a war which seemed like an eternity for all its participants; leaders in the above said tribes decided to organize In the headquarters of the Gorilla tribe known as the Gorilla Den. The end result was the formation of an alliance known as the WZRN-War Zone Raider Nation. They established a Chain of bases and posts all across War Zone each which were under a label of Disctrict. There were 7 Districts, with 6 posts or bases in each of them. Each district was led by a different gang except the Amazons and the Gorilla Tribe. Each of which were the heads of the two halves of the WZRN Territory. In addition to the District system, they also incorporated a new initiation, different from the brutal beating style initiation of before. this initiation or rites of passage was known as 7 Days of Hell. Over the course of one week (or 7 days) the young initiates learned everything it meant to be a raider, and after learning something new each day they completed missions. These missions ranged from town raids, ghoul slaughters, to skirmishes and fist fights with non-allied raiders. After these 7 days the said raider would have earned their bones; and know everything about being a "true raider". Over the course of many years the WRZN had taken much of what was left of the War Zone, and also established camps in downtown Detroit. They warred with super mutants, and the BoS over territory and supplies left over after the Great War. Some time during the battles some of the WZRN leaders began to become influenced by the selfless acts of the Midwestern Brotherhood; that, and the fact that many of the foot soldiers were beginning to discredit their leaders wisdom; and started forming outlaw and renegade factions of their own, quite like how it was pre-alliance. Seeing the negative effects of the meaningless battles, and the casualties they were sustaining, the leaders or the RN agreed on a truce with the Brotherhood in order to help each other rid the city of super mutants and also to survive the harsh conditions of the wasteland. Together they established a solid base for the Brotherhood in downtown Detroit, and began expanding into the more wild parts of the metro Detroit area. They set up posts, and refugee camps in many places in order to help wandering Wastelanders. They also changed their name from WRZN to GDN, and began salvaging the leftover resources in the area. Things like the Detroit River, though polluted, still provided a good source of energy. Old auto assembly plants still had many operational machines that could be used to construct vehicles, and establish outside communications and other things. They began working on projects to build motorized vehicles that would allow for fast travels through the land, using radiated water to fuel them, and with the help of a local vault that had opened their doors. They used the GECK as a foundation for purifying the plentiful water source. They also extended to Belle Isle in hopes that development would most likely create a new kind of edible crop. Over time The GDT/N would thrive, and become known all throughout the land.

next im probably gonna write about conflict within the nation/tribne and how certain groups became to greedy and splinter from the body

I really don't see how Detroit of all places could go tribal. With all the technology, cars and gangs around it would more likely evolve into a feudal gang state based on slavery, rather than a bunch of tribals. 15px-Scribe.jpg Tagaziel (call!) 20:36, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

that makes sense...but my idea of tribes and clans were kinda gangs so to speak, in the sense that since the bombs from the great war would most likely reduce the city to a desolate wasteland region like much of the rest of the country the gangs of the area woulod be more savage and primitave and or tribal in the sense. not necesarrily tribla like raiders or the ones in point lookout but merely gangs or military troops that refered to themselves as tribes because of the respective surroundings....and me personally i like the sound of tribes and cllans....thankls for the feedbak...oh and yea im still gonnna write differnt timelines wherwe differnt things happen...this is just one storyGreatDetroitTribe 20:59, 18 July 2009

then again it is entirely possible that like with the instance in the pitt or pittsburg that Detroit was never hit directly by the bombs that could work? yeaGreatDetroitTribe 00:36, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

ok. So I did my best, but I don't know what redyg was supposed to mean. I italicized things that looked like names, and corrected spelling and grammar errors. Now it should be as close to MLA style as I can get it. Let me know how I did, and if I changed anything you wanted left the way it was. Spawnsos 01:38, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

thanx for the edits, and no i have no idea wdf Redyg was supposed to be lol so i changed it. Im sure it was just my comp screwing up or soemthin idk, but iknow it was somewhere along the lines of Create,Develop,Form,Grow, etc based on the Context of the sentence.GreatDetroitTribe 03:51, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Yea I figured it was something along those lines, I just couldn't think of what would fit with redyg. Spawnsos 05:24, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
