Forums: Index > Fallout: New Vegas gameplay help > A Starters Guide?

Noob here, Bro unfortunately saved over my saved game on PS3 :/, so I have to start over (someone needs to invent save game passwords). I came online, wonderin if there's any starters guides for the game, can't find anything. Just looking to find out a way to quickly progress in Fallout: New Vegas. I love this game but I hate going through all that again so slowly :/.

Be nice if there were some sort of guide for people looking to find whatever is easily obtained from the very start of the game. For example, in Fallout 3, first thing outside the vault was obtain awesome weapons by playing with random encounters and found all the unique and easily available weapons that were easily available for a low level character, and used these to obtain better weapons.

Just wondering if you guys would point me in the direction of the best items, weapons, and quests to start out with in order to pwn and level up quickly? Are there any online maps that reveal locations of rare items/weapons/enemies/etc?

You can use the main page http://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_weapons for example to learn about unique weapons. Simply follow the same procedure for whatever items take your fancy. But honestly? If you want to level up quickly just build an efficient character and go exploring. Rushing through, IMO, detracts from the whole concept of the game. Each time I play through I discover, and make a mental note of, new situations/items/ways to complete things - it's what makes this game replayable for me, but each to thier own I guess. :-) P3dantic 10:21, January 6, 2011 (UTC)

A good way to play 1st game is to find a detail map of your starting area. Ie the map contain Goodspring. Then check the locations nearest Goodspring on wikia pages. Since they're near the starting area, they tend to be quite easy in enemy level. Then move to Primm, south of Goodspring. Check for the Mojave Express building. Get in, repair the ED-E robot to get your 1st companion, not just for the added firepower/packmule, but for the Enhanced Sensors so that you can detect enemies from farther.Laclongquan (talk) 11:48, February 15, 2013 (UTC)
