The Followers of the Apocalypse inhabit a library in the western segment of the Boneyard. Lead by Nicole, the Followers are dedicated to scholarship and to ensuring that humanity does not repeat the mistakes that led to the Great War.

While ostensibly like the Children of the Cathedral in being dedicated to the cause of spreading peace throughout the wasteland, they are suspicious of the latter's motives. Talius, a ghoul-like mutant partially exposed to FEV by the Master's forces, found refuge among the Followers, and helped them understand the true nature of the Children.

After the death of the Master, the Followers of the Apocalypse became a major influence in the newly-founded New California Republic. With the Vault Dweller's help, they gained control of the LA Boneyard.

There are two possible endings for the Followers of the Apocalypse in Fallout. One of them is described above. In the other one, the Followers were massacred by the remnants of the super mutant armies of the Master. The happy ending for the Followers is bugged and unavailable, therefore many players have assumed that the Followers were destroyed. However, since it is only a bug, both endings are viable. It is known that the happy ending was assumed to be canon by the developers of Van Buren, the canceled Fallout 3 by Black Isle, as Followers of the Apocalypse were to appear in the game (more specifically, at the Hoover Dam).

Dedicated to reeducating and rebuilding the wasteland, the Followers are a group that originally sprung up in the Boneyards of Adytum (former Los Angeles) around the time of the Vault Dweller. The Followers are generally liked where they go, since they teach people valuable medical and agricultural knowledge. However, some governments dislike the Followers, as they are generally liberal thinkers who occasionally plant seditious thoughts in the heads of oppressed citizens. The Followers are also touchy about their connection with Caesar’s Legion, a powerful slaver group of the east. It is from their ranks that the original Caesar came.

The Followers have appeared only in the first Fallout. They aren't even mentioned in any of the other games published so far. They were to appear again in van Buren (mainly as a chapter at Hoover Dam). The Followers symbol (pictured above) can be found in Fallout 2 in a back room of the Hubologist base in San Francisco as well as at dr. Troy's house in Redding, but this is likely not intended to imply a connection.
