The Floating Eye is a hovering security bot equipped with a taser. Resembling an eyeball, its upper portion houses the CPU, motivator and the sensors. The extending arm below is equipped with a low power energy prod.
The robot is quick but fragile, and was mostly used as a sentry or for patrolling important areas in vital facilities, such as the Sierra Army Depot or the Glow pre-war. It's intended purpose was probably alerting more powerful robots if an intruder was detected and engaging him to either subdue or prevent his escape so that other robots can take care of the interloper.
Similar robots include the Eyebot used by the Enclave and the Hover Robot used by the Calculator.
