The MF Hyperbreeder Alpha is a unique weapon added with the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Gun Runners' Arsenal.

Background[]

The recharger pistol is the second version[1] of a self-charging weapon, with effectively limitless ammunition. It is a more advanced and compact version of the recharger rifle, which is fitted with a microfusion breeder that provides virtually limitless power, albeit with a limited capacity of "shots." Each "shot" takes a set amount of time to recharge, up to recovering the full capacity from a fully discharged state.

Characteristics[]

Compared to its standard counterpart, the MF (Microfusion) Hyperbreeder Alpha has been uniquely modified to be fully automatic instead of semi-automatic. It recharges much faster than the standard at a rate of 1 shot every 0.3 seconds to the standard's 1 shot every 1 second, allowing for a higher rate of fire as well as dealing more damage per shot, but also has higher weapon spread. It also will not recharge unless equipped and is not automatically fully charged when drawn, causing a delay before the first shot can be fired. Its high recharge rate is somewhat mitigated by its noticeably smaller magazine capacity of 10 to the standard's 20, allowing for only half as many shots before recharging. Also, as with most unique weapons, it lacks the ability to be modified. It is an improved holdout weapon.

In terms of appearance, the coloring is a darker, yet cleaner blue next to the standard. It has only the left breeder and has four tubes going from the receiver to the barrel.

The MF Hyperbreeder Alpha can fire a total of about 3,995 times from full condition before breaking.

Notes[]

  • Using Turbo or Implant GRX will significantly slow the MF Hyperbreeder Alpha's recharge rate, making it highly ineffective.
  • Unlike the standard recharger pistol, this weapon is affected by the Laser Commander perk.
  • Since the weapon recharges ammo while firing, one can fire roughly 19 shots while fully charged before needing to wait to recharge if they possess no perks that boost fire rate.
