Keith Szarabajka is an actor who voiced Joshua Graham in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Honest Hearts. In Fallout 4, he voiced several male ghouls and the Vault-Tec scientist, and in its add-on Nuka-World, he voiced John-Caleb Bradberton and Mark Reisman. He also voiced Dr. Edgar Blackburn in the Fallout 76 updates Steel Dawn and Steel Reign.
Career[]
Keith trained with the Organic Theater in Chicago between 1972 and 1978. He also studied at both the University of Chicago and Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. He appeared in The Dark Knight as Detective Gerard Stephens. He also voices characters for several video games including Red Faction: Guerrilla, Mass Effect 2 (Harbinger, Delan, Elias Kelham), Guild Wars: Nightfall, Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age II, L.A. Noire, Dead Space, BioShock Infinite, and Halo 4.
Participation in Fallout series[]
Szarabajka was almost passed on as the voice of Joshua Graham, because one of the designers involved in the first round of casting suggested removing him from the pool. According to Joshua Sawyer, Szarabajka's submission was "given on a cell phone on a windy day and he had a cold." However, Sawyer decided to keep Szarabajka in the running for the role of Graham, which he considers one of the best decisions he made on the project.[1]
According to Szarabajka's recollection, Graham's dialogue was recorded over just four to five days. When first recording for Graham, all Szarabajka had to go off of was a basic idea of the story and some sample lines. Szarabajka has said that he was surprised by how much Graham's character resonated with fans, and that he has been asked more about Graham than any other character he has played. Szarabajka speculates that Graham's themes of death and rebirth are reasons for the character's impact with players.[2]
