The trading stand, trading shop and trading emporium are constructible settlement stores in Fallout 4.

Characteristics[]

The trading shops are tiered stores that primarily sell junk and other miscellaneous items, which can be constructed in a settlement via the workshop. A settler must be assigned to the trading stand in order for it to function as a shop and increase happiness.

The trading stand is the first tier trader shop. The outdoor stand has a crudely drawn shopping cart fixed to the top of the crossbar with a sign reading "store" hanging underneath to the right. The store counter has "general" written across the front in green capitals.

The trading shop is the second tier store. The outdoor stand has an added: "general trader" sign fixed to the ceiling, with "store" hanging underneath to the right, the shopping trolley is affixed to the front. The store counter variant is visually identical to the trading stand.

The trading emporium is the top tier store. The outdoor stand is constructed from metal, with front shutters. The crudely drawn shopping trolley and "general trader" signs are affixed to the shop ceiling. The counter has "general" written across the front left hand side in green capitals with two rows of backless shelves on the right hand side, consisting of 2 shelves to a row. The trading emporium has the widest range of goods available of the three trader shops.

With Cap Collector rank 3, one can invest 500 caps into a trading emporium, which will affect any other trading emporiums within the settlement network if connected through a supply line.

Notes[]

  • In common with all player-created stores, there is no additional inventory or caps obtained by creating more than one store, and all the inventory and caps of the lower-tier stores are included in a higher-tier store.
  • The sign at the top of the trading emporium stand will clip through the roof in single story player character buildings and may make indoor placement of the trading emporium difficult.
  • Upgrades to a rank 4 trading emporium if assigned Trader Rylee, Tina De Luca or Vault-Tec rep.
  • Having all six store types at tier 3 with a population of 20 yields 50 caps a day (due to that being the capped maximum). Taking into account that it requires an investment of 11.800 caps it takes 236 days to recover said investment. However it is possible to reach the daily maximum with a lesser investment.
