The trade caravan post is a settlement object in Fallout 4.

The trade caravan post is a makeshift shelter with a brahmin feed trough that traveling Bunker Hill merchants will stop at when they visit the settlement. The traveling merchants that will visit are Trashcan Carla, Cricket, Lucas Miller and Doc Weathers.
The caravan post will attract these traveling merchants to settlements they wouldn't normally visit, including not just locations outside of each merchant's usual circuit area, but also the Island, Nuka-World and Vault 88. Merchants will visit settlements even if they are unpopulated. They will visit settlements that are normally visited by a different Bunker Hill merchant, as well as settlements that are normally visited by none.
It is possible for more than one caravan to be at the same caravan post at the same time; caravans can arrive sequentially, as long as the player character remains at the location.
Merchant visits to caravan posts are similar to visits to Bunker Hill in some ways, in that the merchant does not travel there on any sort of itinerary, and so cannot be followed there. Instead there is a random chance of the merchant being present, or being in the process of arriving, whenever the player character arrives in the cell containing the caravan post, or remains in that cell. In effect, the merchants randomly teleport into the cell containing the caravan post.
It is possible to follow a caravan away from the location by waiting long enough that the caravan should have departed (around 8 hours), then briefly leaving the cell and immediately returning. The caravan (or caravans) previously halted at the trade caravan post location will then be seen to be leaving the location.

Trade caravan posts can be crafted after the miscellaneous quest Prep School is completed for Kessler.
