The bookcases are constructible settlement objects in Fallout 4.
Characteristics[]
There are two different types of bookcases both with a simplistic design. The short bookcase holds two shelves and comes up to waist height, while the tall bookcase has five shelves and is roughly similar in height to an adult. The shelves are fully functional and the Sole Survivor is free to display and remove items on them at will.

Bookcases are located under Furniture → Shelves in the workshop.
