Why does everyone talk to me funny?

Sally is a member of Harry's squad deployed at the Necropolis Watershed in Fallout. She, Gary and Barry are found in the "barracks" next to the water pump, just beyond Harry himself.

Background[]

A woman dipped in the FEV vats at Mariposa, Sally's transformation turned her into a masculine-looking super mutant,[1] assigned to Harry as squad commander. Due to her appearance, everyone in the squad refers to her as a male, leading the exasperated Sally to ask why everyone is talking to her funny. Her squad commander, owing to his low intelligence, seems to chalk it up to Sally just having a "lousy name."[2]

Appearances[]

Sally appears only in Fallout.

Behind the scenes[]

Sally is female, but is consistently referred to by Harry and non-game materials as male.[Non-game 1][Non-game 2] Even SCRIPTS.LST refers to her as a male super mutant, with a note in parentheses saying "(sex change??)", suggesting that even the developers were not fully confident whether she is a male super mutant with a funny name or a woman looking like a man, confusing her fellow super mutants.[1] The wiki article is written assuming that she is female, just with a masculine outward appearance.
