"Roundhouse Rock" is an instrumental track broadcast on Black Mountain Radio and Mojave Music Radio in Fallout: New Vegas. It appears on the KPM CD Bert Weedon Gold, which is only available for licensing for movies/TV/games from APM music.

It was written and performed by British guitarist Bert Weedon in 1970 under the title "Rockin' at the Roundhouse" as the title track for the 1970 album of the same name.

The Roundhouse refers to the music venue in London which was retrofitted from a 19th century railway roundhouse and opened as a performing arts event space in 1964.

Background[]

The song was recorded for the Fontana record label in 1970. Bert Weedon's lead guitar was accompanied by Derek Collins (tenor sax), Maurice Placquet (drums), Ron Prentice (bass guitar), and Les Thatcher (rhythm guitar). The recording was supervised by Lionel Burdge with engineer David Voyde.

The liner notes describe a concert put on at the Roundhouse in the midst of the rock 'n roll revival in the UK in 1970. The track "Rockin' at the Roundhouse" was composed for the occasion.[1]

"A few months ago Rock gradually started to come back into the pop scene, and a big Rock Revival show was put on at London's Roundhouse - the mecca of pop and beat music. All the rock stars of the past were invited to appear, and the concert was a big success, but the hit of the show according to the press was not surprisingly guitar star Bert Weedon - one musical paper described him as 'a Super Star'. We asked Bert about this concert and he said 'Everyone was a little nervous after so long an absence from Rock shows, but as soon as I went out there I felt great - the audience were calling out for my old hits, and the more I played the more they called out for more. There was a tremendous atmosphere there and the rockers and the hippies were joined together by the music of rock and roll. I played rock instrumentals as opposed to rock songs that were being sung all evening, and it was probably this that helped to make the success of my appearance that night. I enjoyed it tremendously, playing all the old rock numbers, for a musician can really get swinging into those kind of numbers - it was just great'. As a result of the concert Bert was asked to appear in rock shows all over the Country, and we immediately asked him to record as a single, the number he wrote especially for the show - 'Rockin' at the Roundhouse'. This single impressed us so much we asked him to record this special LP, called 'Rockin' at the Roundhouse'."

Notes[]

The KPM 543 CD Bert Weedon Gold contains an error in the track listing. While the track was renamed as "Roundhouse Rock", the description gives the original title "Rockin' at the Roundhouse," but an incorrect recording date of 1960.
