The walking cane is a melee weapon in Fallout 4.

Characteristics[]

The walking cane has low damage per attack for a melee weapon. That being said, this medium-speed weapon can be upgraded to pierce armor with a slight boost in damage, and has one of the lowest AP costs of any weapon in the game. As a result, at lower levels the upgraded version can provide some of the highest rates of damage output available.

Weapon modifications[]

The walking cane does not require any perks to be modified. The Spiked and Barbed modifications are both listed as providing a +2 damage modifier, but Barbed actually provides a +20% modifier and Spiked provides a +25% modifier. Because the damage of a weapon is floored between weapon mods and other modifiers like Strength and perks, it's impossible to see the actual damage difference displayed in-game.

Notes[]

The Barbed and Spiked upgrades have identical combat capabilities, contrary to their in-game descriptions, and despite the Spiked upgrade requiring more components and having a greater caps value.
