.45 Auto is a type of ammunition in the Fallout: New Vegas add-on Honest Hearts.

Characteristics[]

The .45 Auto is an effective pistol cartridge for use against soft, unarmored targets. It combines accuracy and good stopping power, with low visibility and moderate recoil. Among the Mormons of New Canaan, it was the ammunition of their signature weapon, the .45 Auto pistol. After the completion of Honest Hearts, the ammunition type will also begin appearing in the base game traders inventories (Gun Runners, Cliff Briscoe, Mick & Ralph's etc.).

Variants[]

.45 Auto, +P[]

Overpressure .45 Auto ammunition has larger powder loads, allowing it to perform better against a variety of targets. As the round is fired at a higher velocity, it has better stopping power and negates enemy protection well. However, +P cartridges degrade the firearm faster.

.45 Auto, hollow point[]

Federal Cartridge brand hollow point bullets feature a hollowed out shape at the bullet tip which causes it to mushroom and break up on impact, dealing massive trauma on fleshy, unarmored targets. However, this also means they break up when they hit targets like armor plates, drastically reducing the weapon's penetrating power.

.45 super (hand load)[]

The Wildcat .45 Super offer 20% higher damage and armor penetration than regular rounds. Like +P .45 Auto cartridges, .45 Super rounds will lower the condition of its chambered weapon at a faster rate.

Notes[]

  • The .45 Auto round is the only type of ammunition to have different ammunition box models for the different ammunition variants.
  • This type of ammo is limited to vendors outside of Zion.
  • .45 Auto rounds are one of only two ammunition types that can be broken down into exactly the same number of materials needed for their construction, the other being rockets.

Behind the scenes[]

.45 Auto weapons were specifically created for Honest Hearts, and were not intended to be included in the base game.[1]
