The Molotov cocktail is a weapon that was cut from the final version of Fallout 3.

Characteristics[]

According to the G.E.C.K., a Molotov was going to appear in the game. It was mentioned by Sierra Petrovita, and three records for it exist in the game files, but the weapon was never completed before being cut from the game. The model file was referenced in the G.E.C.K., but the actual file does not exist. There is also a sound record in the G.E.C.K. for the Molotov. The third record appears to be for a thrown-type weapon, but the G.E.C.K. does not recognize this record and cannot open it. A model for the cocktail does exist and can be found in the Fallout - Meshes/projectiles/ molotovcocktailprojectile.nif. The cut Throwing skill also references the weapon by name. The cocktail would have been ignited by a flip lighter utilized by the user.

The Molotov cocktail's flip lighter was reused in Fallout: New Vegas for lighting animations for dynamite, its long fused variant and fire bombs.
