Quest[]

I Could Make You Care: If the player suggests that Veronica Santangelo abandon the Brotherhood of Steel, she will ask the player character to take her to the Follower's outpost. There, one will find Alvarez, who will ask the Courier and Veronica to leave for a day until their main recruiter comes back.[4] When the player character returns, they will find everyone massacred at the hands of four hostile Brotherhood of Steel paladins.[5]

Notes[]

  • Depending on one's current companion, Alvarez will comment on them:
    • If one has Arcade as a companion when talking to her, she will respond with "When people have got nothing left, they can always turn to the Followers."
    • If one has Boone as a companion when talking to her, she will respond with "That's a First Recon beret. They're the best marksmen of the NCR military."
    • If one has ED-E as a companion when talking to her, she will respond with "That's one battered eyebot. It's a miracle it's still functioning."
    • If one has Lily as a companion when talking to her, she will respond with "Look at that - a friendly Nightkin. What's it doing here?"
    • If one has Cassidy as a companion when talking to her, she will respond with "Is that Rose of Sharon Cassidy? I heard she had gotten out of the Caravan business."
    • If one has Raul as a companion when talking to her, she will respond with "I'll never get used to the sight of ghouls."
    • If one has Rex as a companion when talking to her, she will respond with "Look at that - a cyber-dog. There can't be many of those left."
    • If one has Veronica as a companion when talking to her, she will respond with "I didn't know the Brotherhood had any people out here."
  • Her dialogue will change accordingly based on the Courier's reputation with the Followers of the Apocalypse.
  • Killing Alvarez and the other Followers in the outpost after telling her about Veronica's interest in joining the Followers will not stop the rogue Brotherhood of Steel paladins from massacring them. This allows for the player character to loot their inventories twice, once before the event, and once after.

  1. 1.0 1.1 The Courier: "I need healing."
Alvarez: "I'm afraid I'm not that kind of doctor. I'm a research scientist. You may want to try Old Mormon Fort in Freeside. They should have a doctor on duty."
    (Alvarez's dialogue)
  2. The Courier: "Can I join the Followers?"
Alvarez: "Possibly, but I'd be the wrong person to ask. You'll need to speak to Dr. Schiller, who's on an errand at one of our other stations. He should be back tomorrow."
    (Alvarez's dialogue)
  3. The Courier: "What do you do here?"
Alvarez: "This is just a site for local Followers to pick up assignments and check in. So most of the time we're just taking care of logistics and coordinating with other checkpoints over the radio."
    (Alvarez's dialogue)
  4. The Courier: "This is Veronica, formerly of the Brotherhood of Steel. She's interested in joining your cause."
Alvarez: "The Brotherhood? Well, this is unusual, I must say. But very welcome. There's certainly a lot we could learn from your technological expertise. Doctor Schiller usually handles placement, and he won't be back until tomorrow. If you could come back then, we can see about your assignment."
    (Alvarez's dialogue)
