Dead prospectors are characters found in the Mojave Wasteland in 2281.

Background[]

Prospectors are scavengers who roam the wastes for various items of interest. Many dead prospectors can be found around the Mojave in different locations, typically carrying armor, a gun, its corresponding ammunition, casings, a melee weapon, some form of an aid item and occasionally some Caravan cards.

Locations[]

Two dead prospectors that are wearing remnants power armor and T-51b power armor respectively, at the deathclaw promontory.
Several dead prospectors are found at the Prospector's Den, including one lying dead in the middle of the path just west of the entrance.
One is found in the Black Rock cave.
One is found next to a large rock just south of the crater with the centaurs near Black Mountain where the body of one of the fallen Brotherhood of Steel paladins appears during the quest Still in the Dark.
Two more can be found in the area of the scorpion gulch right up the hill to the west of the pit where radscorpions and the body of a dead wastelander with the missing laser pistol are located. The first is surrounded by some small rocks right in the middle of the path leading further west towards Hidden Valley while the second is located not far away next to the edge of a cliff just north from body of the first one.
A fourth can be found by taking the eastern path out of the scorpion gulch towards HELIOS One and is located near the little ramp that leads up to a small ledge with a grave right next to the exit from the gulch.
A random loot spawning dead prospector can be found in a holding cell inside of the Nevada Highway Patrol station.
A second random loot spawning dead prospector is found inside of Nipton Hall on the assembly hall level.
One can be found in the right north branch with a key to a locked gate in the Searchlight North gold mine.
One is found by proceeding north-northeast from the water tower in Goodsprings Cemetery, it is inside one of the radscorpion nests nearby in the small alcoves along the cliff wall.
Two dead prospectors are found in the unmarked location Bootjack Cavern.
One can be found in the small room to the left just before the manhole leading to the north sewers in the northeastern section of the central sewers.
One is found in the sealed sewers with the Humble Cudgel.

Notes[]

A dead prospector's loot will either be preset or will randomly generate items based on the game's difficulty and the player character's level.
The one located in Black Rock cave carries the unique weapon the Paladin Toaster. Another one found at the Devil's Throat is carrying the CZ57 Avenger, a unique minigun.
