Brian Freyermuth was one of the original designers of Fallout. Among other things, he was responsible for many of the quests and characters from places like the Necropolis, Shady Sands, the Boneyard, the Glow and the Hub. He wrote first drafts for most of the talking head characters, including his favorite, Harold. Together with Scott Campbell he wrote the earliest version of the Fallout timeline.

He was also the level designer for Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel. He aimed to create its sequel, Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel 2, and wrote the game's design document, but the game was canceled.

In 2002, he worked as a designer for Run Like Hell for the PlayStation 2. The game shared voice actors with some characters in the Fallout series, had music composed by series regular Inon Zur, and has a Vault Boy reference on protein bar items.
