The Action Abe action figure is a miscellaneous item found in Fallout 3.
Characteristics[]
"Action Abe" is a small action figure of President Abraham Lincoln holding a sword in the right hand with a second sword attached to the back.
Location[]
This item is found in the Museum of History's offices on a desk in the Archives room behind a Very Hard locked door as part of the unmarked quest Lincoln's Profit Margins. Lockpicking is not necessary as there is a large hole in the wall nearby.
Related quests[]
- Lincoln's Profit Margins - can be sold to any vendor for a small amount of caps, but the following characters will buy it for more:
- Hannibal Hamlin from Temple of the Union (for 10 caps to start, 20 upon passing a Speech check).
- Leroy Walker at the Lincoln Memorial.
- Abraham Washington in Rivet City will also buy the figure for 10 caps, but upon passing the Speech check will pay 20.
Notes[]
- "Action Abe" can be difficult to display in player housing, as the figure is front heavy. If one grabs it from the very top of his hat, it is easier to place.
- Though it no longer serves any purpose, this item is still found in the game files for Fallout: New Vegas.
Behind the scenes[]
The action figure holding a sword may be a reference to a feud that the real-world Lincoln had with Illinois politician James Shields in 1842, while Lincoln was a lawyer. Their feud escalated to a proposed duel, in which Lincoln chose to use a cavalry broadsword; using a sword would give the tall-framed Lincoln an advantage over Shields, who was short and better with a firearm than a sword. However, Lincoln and Shields never actually dueled, instead reconciling their differences and becoming friends.
